I was hoping to draw our favorite loopy-eyed mare for Derpy Day, but I never found the time to, so here she is, almost a week late. I've long wanted to try my hand at drawing a pony and Derpy seemed the most fun to draw. Inspiration for the pose came from my cat, who clearly has never heard of the concept of dignity when he's lying on his back on the floor.Related content

Well, I'm glad you decided to take your time on this piece because it came out damn awesome in the end, haha. And looking at Derpy's pose I can see what you meant when said "got the inspiration for my cat" :3
Though, looking at your gallery I'm kind of confused by your words "my favorite pony". I assume you watch the show but never did MLP-fanart before? I'd love to see more ponies from you.

I never do much fanart of anything, to be honest, this is actually the first pic I've drawn in almost a year, barring those Fringerama sketches I did before vectorizing them. I usually work in 3D and I'm always working on my portfolio, so I'm reluctant to take any time out to draw for the fun of drawing. Whenever I watch the show I keep thinking "Oh, I'd love to draw this!", but then my rational brain always chimes in with "No, you gotta work on your portfolio. Fun can come AFTER you find a job." So I keep on putting it off and eventually never draw anything. I'm always afraid to draw after a long break cause I'm terrified to discover that I can't draw anymore x.x I took the time to do this over the week-end cause I can never get any real work done on week-ends anyway, something always comes up.
