Story behind the pic: a squad of X-COM troopers just got sent out on a mission, but I guess the Skyranger was out on a joyride or something so they have to wait for it to land. Or maybe they're coming back from a mission at some high-tech secret base and the Skyranger is picking them up, I didn't really think it through to be honest. You can tell the veterans from the rookies because they have better armor. Nobody wastes armor on greenhorns until they at least make squaddie.

This is a bit of 4-year-old X-COM fanart I found on my computer, revised and redrew. Then decided to put it up here rather than stow it back in the dark recesses of my hard drive. Somehow the pic turned out xbox huge, sorry about that. Unfortunately laziness got the better of me when it came to the later stages, like the background, so I skimped on details and used gradients with reckless abandon. Though, I didn't want to clutter it too much anyhow so I'm not all that unsatisfied with how it turned out. All in all this was largely a learning project for me to try my hand at drawing human figures, so issues abound. Hopefully it will improve with a bit of practice.

Originally this was a picture of the main cast for a short X-COM graphic novel that I thought of making but which never came to fruition, though perhaps I'll finally get around to it in the near future. The script is largely complete, too, so all that really needs doing is setting pen to paper. Oh well. One day, comic, one day
