Levi's POV

'Where the hell are they?' I thought, obnoxiously, to myself. Letting out an audible "Tch" I slowed my horse to a stop and attempted to quickly scan through the growing horde of people in search of my scattered troops.

Less than a few hours before, we were attacked from behind by a large group of fast, deviant type titans. None of us were prepared. They had just suddenly popped up from the trees.

As act of desperation, I ordered my team to scatter; to hide amongst the bushes, or trees, or whatever kind of coverage they could find.

What a foolish move to make.

My being cut off guard was definitely a new thing. I wasn't quite used to the whole "utter humiliation" thing either, apparently, as I cringed at the thought of my mistake.
Bringing a hand to my face I felt myself begin to tremble, and sweat beginning to fall from my forehead.

Armin, Connie, Jean, and Sasha had already returned. Jean and Sasha sporting bandages wrapped around parts of their upper and lower arms. Which, apparently, were caused by their running through thicket on their horses; the dumbasses. I believed I had seen Historia amidst the large crowd of people. However, I still had seen nothing of the last three since the moment before I ordered for the scatter.

Gazing from place to place I searched for my remaining brats. Contrary to my hopes, however, the large gaggle of reuniting teammates and loud celebratory cries made it nearly impossible to find them. There were just too many people around and everything was much too loud for me to be able to focus on one person for long enough.

Luckily, only moments before I was going to give up on their return, the site of a distinct, red scarf came into view. With that, however, I formed a frown. Oh god, THIS son of a bitch is here. But on the flip side, I was slightly relieved to see Mikasa returning, though still a ways away. Her adoptive brother and brat, Eren, followed closely behind her horse, and drug an extra horse alongside him.

Giving my horse I light kick, I decided to meet them halfway.

"Good to see you two dumbasses alive." I snorted whenever I had finally reached them.

Mikasa, though usually snarling by now, somehow kept her cool. Eren on the other hand, just kept his face hidden.

'Hell, they must've seen some pretty bad shit this time around.' I concluded to myself.

Feeling slightly worried of the response, I spoke up after a long- and awkward- silence.

"Have either of you seen (name)? Last time I checked she had run off with you guys." I asked, raising an eyebrow.

I watched Eren's shoulders shoot upwards as if tensing. Mikasa as well moved her face downwards. A terrifying feeling grew in the pit of my stomach.

I knew...

I knew what was coming next...

Eren quickly brought his right hand over his heart, offering it up to humanity. Tears now visibly streaked down his cheeks.

"Cadet (First name) (Last name) of Special Operations Squad Levi has fulfilled her duties as a member of the Survey Corps and died valiantly on the battlefield!"

With those words...
