Tsubaki had never played the tuba before, but she knew something hadn't sounded right. Isao-sensei had given her a quick rundown of the basics--the ring to put her thumb in, which pedals her other fingers should press down in, the proper way to blow into the mouthpiece--by all accounts it should be working. He had warned her that it would take some lung power, but that should not have been a problem for a practicing vocalist. The instrument simply felt clogged.

Neither teacher nor student had noticed Tsubaki's pet frog in their preparations. In Isao-sensei's lessons, Prince Theodred Leopold (Theo-Leo) had grown bored of Tsubaki's pockets and went exploring. He found a magnificent brass instrument to crawl into nice and snuggly. When said instrument was picked up, the frog grew stubborn and hid deeper into the tuba's horn unwilling to evacuate.

Finally, after several attempts of huffing and puffing, Isao-sensei came closer to investigate the tuba itself, right as Tsubaki lost patience. With one last heaving of air, Theo-Leo was blasted out of the tuba with a mighty OOMPAH sound--and splatting right into Isao-sensei's face. In the end, Tsubaki's first note was not her smoothest; but a loud, in-your-face beginning is better than no beginning at all.

Aside from some startlement, no frogs nor teachers were harmed in this lesson. On a side note, I got permission to draw this from Tamashii-Otomes before flinging frogs at her character UvU
