yeah well they've only made two movie like things, and I'd have prefered for the Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic to have been seperate ones instead of a merge, but it worked really well, pity about Bel-Sham-Haroth though.

Yeah, it was a last-minutes addition sort of thing, should have spent a little more time with it before submitting. Didn´t feel it though, since the actual artwork I´ll be using this reaper in won´t have anything under the cloak. So I ended up taking the lazy route & proceeding with the upload of this version.

Thanks for featuring it, was a nice surprise. And I don´t mind the critique either, it was the reason that got me into this site in the first place. And even today, it usually always helps with future-works, makes one see things a little differently & a little more improved eyes.

The artwork I´ll be using this reaper won´t have the skull/ribcage in it, those were last minute additions for this wallpaper-outtake. Should have spent a little more time with them though, the proportion of the hands/skull got the only crits in this anyway. But thanks for the crits in any case, will be helpful in future-works I´m sure.

No worries. I just irked very quickly about this particular subject. one of the few places aside from the Forums and dAmn that the community actually bolsters together is on our Daily Deviations... so I always feel like when someone is insinuating a certain piece shouldn't be chosen their insulting everyone at large.
My apologies if I seemed rude, it wasn't my intention. Only it is that I try my hardest to protect the heart of this place I love so much whenever I can.

I agree with the comments regarding the hands and the anatomy of the head.
However, I think this is awesome. I think it makes it more creepy. And the crow is beautiful! I love crows. So good work there.
Allhopeislost, I understand what you're saying but he was only stating his opinion, not harassing. He is free to speak as he desires. I, however, think it was a reasonable choice for DD and respect your decision, but also respect the words of walrus as well.

I suppose you're right, I wouldn't want a daily deviation I received to ever be knocked (if I ever get one! I've been here since 2002 and I'm still waiting! Guess I just have to try harder ^_^ ). Criticism is always welcome, but I suppose there's a correct and polite way to do it.

Ultimately the choices of DD's are up to the Volunteers who choose them, and it is to the great honor of both the artist and community alike when these features get placed. Daily Deviations are the only place where we come together as a whole to praise the talent and skill of an an individual... and I don't feel that off-handed comments such as the one above are at all acceptable in terms of how it reflects on all of us at large. This, too, is marginally stated in the FAQ that i left the gentleman we're speaking about.
The critique was actually a decent one, and I believe everyone should be encouraged to continue to critique one another's work. Generally speaking, we don't learn any other way. Still, that other subject is wholly different and it's one that I'm not afraid to address directly. I find it as my responsibility as emissary between you and the Administration to do so.

The Grim Reaper, to many he is the enemy, the one to fear by when someone mentioning his name, or that of anything in which gives representation of him, yet to a few he is a savor, come to invite them out of this long life and into a world of the unknown. Who is he working for one may ask, but with the signature of death it has to be from the underworld, a never allowed worker from hell that walks the earth. Collecting souls daily.
Yet, here he is showing some compassion to another being, perhaps adopting a pet will momentarily freed him from his job that he is forced to do for the eternity. His selection of a pet has to resemble the same kind of style that he is, dark, mysterious, and with an edge to life, also has that bird eyes view. No wonder a crow makes a good pet for such profession.
The Sickle creates a composition pointing at the crow, and itself points back at the grim. The white smoke with a stronger highlight in the foreground helps to move the eye throughout the piece. The misty fog in the back helps to extend the depth, and keeping it 3D. What I am concern about is the proportion of his shoulder compare to the fingers, it is a little off. While the shoulders are bulky, which is good for carrying the Sickle, and the power to swing it, but the hands itself is quite small.
Other than that the overall image gives me the inspiration. Keep up the good work!

I like your second version having no skull, that makes it more mysterious, and unknown as someone with this status. Time will always be our ally and enemy.
