Bio:

Matthew was born in Mississippi in 1994. He was an only child, had good grades in school, had a good amount of friends, and wasn't bullied much, even though for his height. Life was normal for him up until he was eight-years-old when he was walking home from school and a white van had followed him almost all the way back to his house. Being a naive child, he accepted whatever the people in the van had offered to him. What he didn’t know was that he’d be kidnapped and taken far, far away from his home.

He ended up in a laboratory somewhere in New York. The building was all white on the inside, pictures of scientists hung on the walls and their information listed under the frames. Matthew was scared when he entered a small room, a room filled with cages which had other animals locked inside them. They all cried and begged for help, but to no avail. Matthew himself was thrown into his own cage, then taken away from the room. Darkness surrounded him, he felt numb and scared. All he could think of was why he was there and what was gonna happen to him. He was put into a smaller, more confined room. Left in darkness. He started panicking and called out for help, not knowing that scientists were watching him and taking down notes of his actions. Eventually, he was let out of the room and hooked up to machines, one that knocked him out immediately. He woke up in a capsule filled with a bright blue liquid, a mask around his snout that helped him breathe, and other sorts of wires hooked onto his arms. Outside the capsule was a computer, calculating his DNA, brain, and heart activity. He saw a scientist standing right outside of the glass container, just watching him and taking down more notes.

A week later, Matthew was taken out of the capsule and strapped down to a table where he was then injected with all sorts of chemicals at once. All of which made him dizzy but energetic, tired but awake, crazy but calm. His arms started spazzing out and he could barely control himself. He tried to break from the straps holding him down but was knocked out yet again, the injected chemicals then extracted from his body. Back in the capsule he went.

All Matthew was used for was tests and experiments. He’d be injected with the blood or DNA of other animals: dogs, wolves, and more. All the scientists wanted to know was if they could make rabbits aggressive. Whatever they did to Matthew, it would work; he’d try to claw at them and bite at them but before he could reach them, he’d be knocked out again and put back into the capsule.

Everyday would be the same; wake up in the capsule, get out, injected, extracted, and back in the capsule. He’d gotten used to it after three years. By the end of his third year at the laboratory, eleven at the time, Matthew went through something different. He’d be put up against small dogs, most tried to attack him in all sorts of ways. Because of all the injection he previously had, he could barely stand a chance against any of the dogs. He’d come out with claw marks and bite marks all over. One dog even bit his arm so hard that it fractured both his ulna and radius, nearly breaking the bones apart. Matthew’s arm was given a cast.

One day, Matthew was given a doll. A small, light pink bunny doll with a bow tied around its neck. Occasionally, he’d be let out of the capsule just to have the doll there to comfort him. When being tested on, the doll would distract Matthew and he’d become oblivious to what was being done to him. The doll was named Sasha. Sasha was the one Matthew always kept by his side. The needles and other injections barely meant anything to him. Without the plush, Matthew would get scared and lonely in the capsule even if the plush was sitting outside.

Another few years went by, Matthew was 17. He still had Sasha with him whenever he’d be tested on. He always wondered how long he’d been there for and when he’d get out. He thought about his home and his friends and family. He wanted to get out, just so he wouldn’t be used as a lab rat. He hated all the needles that’d jab him through the skin and made him act like a wild animal. It’d tire him out, and the extractions wouldn’t help. All the chemicals messed with his mind and he’d break down in front of the scientists, begging to be let go. If he refused, Matthew would be forced to do whatever the scientists wanted him to do, this meant that they had to pick him up or drag him through the testing process. They’d strap him down and numb him so he couldn’t move, but he could still feel all the pain from the injections. Sasha would be taken away, too. Matthew was lonely and scared for very long times and couldn’t get over it.

To increase his chances of becoming some killer animal, the scientists would try feeding Matthew dead insects and small animals such as squirrels and mice. He’d refuse and often go hungry, which made him weak and tired. Not much of what the scientists did would work. Matthew considered starvation, but couldn’t exactly take how it felt, so he gave in and would eat the insects and such. It started out as just dead animals, but eventually moved onto live ones so he’d have to kill them. He was so disgusted with himself as he was to the taste. Again and again, he’d be injected with more chemicals and the DNA of violent animals to make him more aggressive. He’d get in fights with more small dogs, which only worsened his injured arm to where it couldn’t heal very quickly.

Too many injections at once wasn’t beneficial to anything. The chemicals all made Matthew sick. The scientists tried everything they could, but nothing would work. They tried giving him medicine, but that didn’t help either. They noticed something about his fur and realized that all of the injections had messed around with the color of his fur. Then, they wanted to do more tests on that when the rabbit was cured. They left him alone in a different room with the bunny doll and examined him. Matthew was a little scared, and his fur slowly faded to a darker, more purple color, his blonde hair almost black. He’d hold Sasha close and his fur went back to normal. The scientists came to the conclusion that his emotions now had a connection with his appearance, making him unique.

Matthew was still kept in the capsule for most of the time, nothing to do but watch the scientists take down even more notes about him. He’d be prepared for every new test and injection, but not quite. He was taken out of the capsule for a brief minute, was told everything would be fine, and his right eye was immediately jabbed with another needle. Matthew was back in the capsule, dealing with a nearly blind eye that felt like it was burning. The damage was irreversible. It took him forever to get used to the acid-like sensation in his eye, and it look forever for that sensation to fade.

Six more years went by with the same exact routine. Matthew had gotten tired of it, and desperately wanted to escape. He always thought of ways to get out when scientists weren’t looking. All until one night when a sudden fire hazard broke out in the laboratory. All the scientists evacuated, leaving all their projects behind, including animals. The building was slowly disintegrated as the fire consumed it. Matthew saw this as a way to finally get out, but he was in the capsule at the time. He took off the mask that gave him oxygen and hit it against the glass as hard as he could, but the water substance only made his movements slower. He eventually broke the glass and was freed from the confined space. He grabbed his plush, Sasha, and ran his way through the burning building for the exit. He got out of the place and ran far away, through a forest, and onto the streets.

For two years, Matthew had been using what he could find to keep himself safe. He used a leaf to cover his right eye and a red cloth around his waist. He always carried Sasha with him, others would try to steal the doll. Everyone thought Matthew was a kid, so he or she would try to take him to a home or an adoption center. He’d find ways to talk others out of it, then go to a certain place in the forest where he kept most of his findings. He had a small notebook he’d write in. Whatever happened in a day, he’d write it down. Although he couldn’t spell or know how to use certain words, it didn’t keep him from writing about his life.
