what's interesting is that originally Iggy had the role Toad has in the final product, as a subect of Goombafication, and this was after the deleted concept of the rapid de-evolution of one of the technitians.

I'm not sure if that's completely accurate. I know that Iggy and Spike were de-evolved (but not into Goombas) in one version of the script, but it was always Toad (or Hark) that became a Goomba.
