Its role in the Worm Jeff mythos is explained further in the entry for High Priest Jonathan laserpotato.deviantart.com/art… but here's the gist of it: carving, tattooing, branding, or otherwise marking this onto your skin is an "invitation" for Worm Jeff to come and infect you. It also seems to attract Dummy Jeffs (for an explanation of what a Dummy Jeff is, read the Infection Journal laserpotato.deviantart.com/art… This mark also appears somewhere on your body when Worm Jeff attaches to you. If you have the Mark on your flesh, it's easier for Worm Jeff to persuade you, either mentally or verbally. Removing/erasing the symbol appears to undo its effects.
There are several variations of the Mark; ones with "pupils" in the eyes, ones without vertical tooth lines, ones with a circle around them. But whatever form it takes, one thing is clear; it appears to be a magic sigil.
The symbol's odd effects are not limited to organic creatures; due to its magical properties, it seems to affect supernatural beings when placed on them as well.
