I always thought Blaze had some Indian influence in her design. I've never seen her as dark-skinned, but I can see it now.
Do you have headcanons regarding the race of other Sonic characters?
Like for Knuckles, since he has a lot of cultural influences. For me he's half Mesoamerican, half African-American.
I had an idea that since Shadow was artificially-grown that he could have a combination of traits from many races that would not occur naturally (like the bone structure of a native-American, skin tone of a south Asian, and eyes of an east Asian).
Silver's a mix of everything due to race blending in the future, Wave's Hispanic, Storm is Native, Espio is Japanese, and everyone else I didn't think about.
(I also had an age headcanon for Big being in his 40s instead of 18, if age-canon is a thing.)
