Description "I need you to wait right here, okay? Alright, Pikachu? I'll be back, I promise, I just need to run back home to get my map before we go."

Right here, by this dead tree, where the broken rope bridge can be seen. This is where you told me to wait. The only two landmarkers, you said, so it would always be easy to find. That's why it's our spot. I've waited here, just like you asked. You've been gone a long time, but I know you'll be back soon.

We're going to go see all those far away places you always told me about here, the pokémon gyms, the Indigo Plateau, everywhere there's another strong team like us. We'll battle them and win, just like we did with your friends and their teams. And we'll be the best, just like you've always dreamed.

Even though the wild pokémon who come by here attack me sometimes, you don't have to worry about me, because I'm strong, because you taught me how to fight and win. We've trained really hard together, so I know I can wait as long as you need me to. But please, hurry back.

I miss you.

-----------------------

I sketched a sad pikachu earlier this morning, then put her in the middle of nowhere and colored and shaded her. While I worked on this picture, I wondered what sort of story might be behind a beat up pikachu sitting near a dead tree looking so sad. The idea of her being abandoned because she wasn't strong enough came to mind, but I wound up writing the above ficlet instead. I imagine that her trainer ran into a wild pokémon or several of them on the way to their house and was so badly wounded that they never even made it home.

And that, kids, is why you should always take a pokémon with you when you go into the long grass!

Edit:
I'm making a comic that tells this pikachu's story. You can read it here .

Done in ArtRage Studio with my tablet.

Pikachu belongs to Nintendo.
