Description My entry for ShareArt's "My Worst Nightmare" contest
[link]

This painting symbolizes the "other side" of you taking control of your mind. Kind of like a alter personality.....
whenever you have those negative thoughts etc....
Something like your reflection

Hmm... I didn't explain that well.....
Anyway interpret it however you want

watercolour paint

They're all wet and have long luxurious hair ina Β magical setting.

It could be some elite hair company and they're all whispering like they do in the cologne commercials.

It'd all be like "Magic....sssshhhhhhh" and the hair would shine and sparkle and stuff.....

That's really good. I like the way you've portrayed darkness or Alter Ego that lies dormant in each and every one's heart. What I would have like to see on it, if it will work, is this: A trigger; I see you have the normal person and then their alter ego, but perhaps you could have had something in the background that was the trigger of the alter ego.
Or maybe you didn't want to include that solely because it would draw attention from the main feature.
My favourite part is the alter ego, it's somewhat sinister looking and with that smile on its face, it's sort of saying, "I'll protect you" or "I will help you".
Great work! ^_^

Hmm....if I do another work I might do a trigger...
but yes I was worried about it getting in the way of the focal point...
exactly her smile makes you think you can trust your alter personality/ego

Why not make the trigger the focal point?

Hmmm....I was hesitant since work with A4 paper...so if I did a full body of a person all the features will be small
which is hard to paint...
so adding a 3rd objects would be difficult

Oh ok, makes sense to do it like that

Is this done with watercolor? If so damn fine work. I especially like the symbolism displayed here.
I beleive we all have a little darkness inside us, and depending upon your upbringing, your daily life, and your current state of mind, The darkness expresses itself on different levels

I'm the philosophical guy of the group(I'm also a tintsy bit crazy). I also study psychology, more directly Mental disorders. There is no such thing as being "normal", We all have something that makes up unique and anyone that says that you're just like them are the ones that truely something wrong with them.....I could go on and on but I don't wanna bore you

It won't bore me as much....
since I am a bit interested in human behavior....etc

If there's one thing I hate, it's when some people don't understand mental disorders
it really annoys me when people say things like

"People who are suicidal are crazy, and deserve to live in a mental hospital"
or
"anorexic people are crazy"

I mean that's just plain mean...

There's a reason WHY a person becomes suicidal
It's all to do with emotions

no one goes "right, today I'm going to kill myself"

They are just people that didn't receive love and care
or something like that....

sorry for ranting on with my boring talk...

no no it's fine, I was worried about ranting myself, but I completely agree with everything you said.

I've lost a few of my loved ones to suicide and it completely pisses me off when I see my sister or some of those stupid-ass kids cutting themselves b/c they want the attention, it just plain sickens me. When I was still in high school, 2 girls just sat down next to me and started talking about cutting themselves like it was just a damn gimmick.....I truthfully wanted to stab them with my plastic fork so they actually understood what pain truely was.

I also think that anorexia is a problem, the people who have it aren't crazy, they just have extremely low self-esteem and usually have someone telling them that they're fat when truthfully they already look beautiful as they are. I saw one French model that was so far gone into anorexia and bulimia that when the doctors finally made her notice, she was 27 and weighed only 78 pounds. She was so weak she could barely walk. She went on to write a book about the dangers of bulimia and anorexia, but 2 months after it was pubished she died of malnutrition.

The world is full of people that society brands as "Crazy" or "Strange" but in truth they cannot help who they are. They are what they have made themselves out to be and society says they're freaks only because they are too ignorant to stop and figure out how to better understand why is this person different, why they act the way they do, and what could has gone on in their lives that has brought this upon them?

If this isn't a rant, I don't know what is....

Fuyuko7 In reply to Requiem363 [2012-07-04 03:51:14 +0000 UTC]

nope it's fine

And also depression can cause anorexia (you know, loss of appetite)
I've never suffered depression....
but there are times when I'm so worried that I loose some of my apatite for a week....
before pulling myself together....

yep there's always a reason why people are like the way they are....
and those who aren't bothered in finding out why, and just labeling them as crazy/stupid
are just heartless
