Dawnweaver History: Part 5

But, as with all groups, the peace didn’t remain forever. They began to quarrel over who had helped the most in protecting the Grotto. Each group believed their group had done the most, and that it was mainly their actions that were responsible for the victory. As such, each group broke off into their own groups, and over time with the groups’ mating and breeding, certain physical traits stuck throughout generations, having been consistent in the genetic strands.

Some of the remaining purist Dawnweavers made attempts to return home to help rebuild their community, but they found their land to be sealed off, a final effort of their leaders to keep the shadows trapped inside for eternity.

As time went on, each group evolved to become more attuned to their respective elements. Over the generations the aquatic-based breezies became known as the Skimmers, the earth-bound became the Terrans, the ones who flew with the wind became the Darters, and the fiery-based breezies were dubbed the Wysps. The addition of the magical Dawnies also gave a select few of them elemental abilities through inheritance.

Of course, the now four distinguished groups stuck around and helped clean the Grotto, making it habitable again.

Those who dealt with spirits, however, felt that they were clearly superior in the fight, considering they talked to the land itself, and broke off from the Grotto entirely. They became recluses, spending their time studying the spirits away from the others (until recent events). This group would come to be known as the Spinners.

The other species elected their own leaders. The Wysps went for power, the later deemed their rulers Great Wysps whose sheer size made them intimidating.

Skimmers preferred cunning rulers, and chose their leader based on that.

Terrans focused on strength, and the first king had more than the others, possessing the legendary Divine Horn.

The Darters chose intelligence to lead them, and so their first Chancellor was the one who organized the parties who blew back the smoke and kept the fire contained.

Those who were pure felt their legacy was secured with their young and stayed in their tower to watch for their destruction, if it ever came.
