Hair/Marker Tutorial
you need:
SAI (Paint Tool SAI)
A tablet-sorry guys ;^;

1. Fill in the area (Which for me is the hair) with your flat/base color.
Create a new layer set it to "Multiply" (What I forgot to mention until later in the tutorial is that you should click the "Layer Clip" box under the layer settings where you set the layer to multiply.)

*On the picture: "where shading leads to" You want to have a point where the shading goes to, follow the direction the hair goes.)

a. As you move up (the section of hair that you're shading) with the marker tool, gradually release the pen pressure. (I also forgot to mention until later that I used the same flat/base color for the shading/highlights. You don't have to, I'm just too lazy to change the color.)

On the same layer as the above step- Important
Repeat step a, going over your first stroke, lightly, with the marker tool. The lighter strokes "blend" the shading, while darker strokes will add more shading depending on how hard to press. Be careful though, sometimes you'll press to hard and it'll be to hard to blend it in. Luckily, we have Ctrl +Z for that.

Make another layer, set it to Multiply and be sure to check the Layer Clip box. Repeat what you did in A, except you'll be doing more blending than actual darker strokes.
Also, you can always go in and make new shaded areas (like I did at the top) So there's really no worries.

** The only thing you want to worry about is making sure that the first layer(First shading layer) is nice and blended, otherwise when you go over it, people will be able to tell the shitty job you did. (As you might be able to see in some areas of my shading, and the same goes for the highlights.)

In the third picture I added about 2-3 more layers of shading, the number of layers you add is only dependent on how dark/light you want it to look.

Lastly, you add the highlights, the only thing different about them is the layer is set to "Screen" instead of multiply. You can also use "Addition" if you want the highlights to be super saturated/bright. I add an addition layer to my eyes to make them a little bright *0* )

You'll do the same as you did for the multiply layers, adding 2-3 for more/less highlights. It all depends on you.
