Description
Jak was furious. He had been sent to the other end of town to fight off huge KG bots. He had always loved to fight, but not when it separated him from something he wanted. And right now, all he wanted was his son, Damas.

While working his way up to the other end of town, Jak was running out of ammo. He knew that he would have to bring out his “Secret Weapon” soon. But he didn’t care. Jak was so angry, that he wanted his Dark powers to come out and take rage on the KG bots. The sooner those robots were destroyed, the sooner Jak could get back home and play with his son.

The KG bots were bigger than Jak could have imagined. They towered more than ten feet above even the tallest soldier on the battlefield. Jak could only grin harshly at them. These robots are gonna get it BIG time! Jak thought to himself. He pulled out his peacemaker and aimed it at the nearest KG bot. However, Jak ended up on the ground, trying not to pass out from the pain. He had been shot in the leg by a fiery-hot KG bullet. “Aghhhh!” Jak screamed. But he knew he’d get up and fight in a minute. At that moment, Jak was floating in the air, and time slowed around him. The entire battlefield quieted. A soft whistling noise echoed, and Jak was healed. He landed back on the ground and looked at the mass destruction of the war for a moment. The scene infuriated him. Jak let his surroundings return to the loud battle, and he was already transformed into “Dark Jak”. He glared at a large KG bot with his intense black eyes and shot a furious dark eco bomb at it. He didn’t look away as the robot exploded.

It was another three days of nonstop fighting before Jak could finally go home. He ran the entire way, even though he was exhausted, while destroying any enemies that dared to stop him. Jak could only think of his son, and how he would pick him up and give him a big bear-hug. I will never leave him that long again. Never! When Jak turned the corner and saw his home, he grinned. He could see a tiny face with royal blue eyes and sapphire hair in the window. It was Damas, waiting for his father to return. Jak saw his son’s face light up and mouth the words, ‘Daddy’.

“Daddy!” Damas was already opening the door when Kiera had to pull him inside. “Daddy, you’re home! You’re home!” he kept squealing as Jak came in, picked him up and squeezed him. Jak felt tears on his shoulder. Only this time Jak knew they were joyful tears.

“Hello, honey” Kiera said while she joined the hug. Jak felt wonderful. He was back home with his family, and he had what he wanted for four long days. Jak had his house, his wife, and his prized possession. He had his son.

“Hello, Kiera! I missed you” Jak replied as he leaned over to kiss her. But he was stopped by a noise. The noise was oddly familiar. Jak heard it before, but couldn’t place it in his mind. It was coming from right outside the door. Then he knew exactly what it was. The noise was a steady ticking.

Jak put Damas down and ran to the door. He opened it and saw exactly what he feared he might see. He saw the thing that was uncontrollable, could kill twenty soldiers at once, and reeked heavily of deadly chemicals. It was a bomb.

Jak slammed the door shut and ran over to his family. He pulled his wife and child as close as he possibly could to himself. Then he went through a transformation at the same time the bomb exploded.  Jak could see a giant blue bubble around him and his family, and past the bubble, he could see fire, smoke, and dust. He could hear his son shrieking with fright from the explosion. Kiera had tears in her eyes. Jak, filled with light eco, refused to let his family go.

The blue bubble surrounded the family until the smoke cleared. Jak returned to his normal form, and looked around. Their home had been destroyed. Then he looked at his family. Damas was screaming because of the shock of what just happened. Kiera looked devastated as she let tears roll down her soft cheeks. Then she turned her head to look at Jak with awe at what he just did. He saved their lives.

Jak held Damas as they walked home. Damas was tired from training his Dark Powers all day. “Why can’t we go back home?” he weakly asked Jak. Damas didn’t mean their house, because he saw it explode. He meant Haven City. Because right now, the only place Jak could afford to get his family into was inside the walls of Spargus.

   “I’m sorry, Damas, but we can’t live anywhere else right now. Mommy and I don’t have the money, and it’s too dangerous.”

“Oh.” Damas sighed, “Well, we can spend every day with each other here, right? Forever?” he looked up at his father.

“Right. Forever.” Jak smiled at his son.

“Good. Then, I like it here already.” Damas said under his breath.

“Yeah, me too, sport. It’s great here-” Jak was cut short by a soft snoring noise. He grinned and kissed his sleeping son’s head. Yeah, things will be great here. Just me and my family! No more leaving to fight in  the war, either! Perfect! Jak thought. Then he walked up the stairs to his home, opened the door, and took in a sigh of relief. Kiera was cooking Jak’s favorite meal. He walked in quietly and kissed her on the cheek, and then put Damas in his bed. Jak looked around, and knew that Spargus was where they would stay. Forever.
