Description
Congratulations Art-in-heart4va for correctly guessing the costume. I imagine all Halloween he'd go around, rub the toothbrush on random people, and when asked what in the bloody beans he's doing, he smirks and says "are you okay? you look like you just had a brush with death." Eventually, he and Papyrus had to be separated so he wouldn't get strangled or, at the very least, irreversibly ruin his brother's first Halloween on the surface.Happy Halloween, everybody!

Oh my god... this is... well... this is sans. This is something sans would do. What's hilarious is that first bit of dialogue... "This is Halloween"... Where's the Pumpkin King when ya need him, amiright?

Haha, thank you so much. I try my hardest to accurately represent the characters as best as I possibly can.

"Brush with death..." I mean... how could that not be sans? Especially since he has a silly little toothbrush, it's just too perfect XD You represent them all pretty accurately! Especially Pap, in the one where sans is wearing a skeleton shirt, hehe. Pap's just way too gullible, but he's also too pure for this sinful realm. Your version is just perfect. And heck, Toriel looks to be the adorable little grandma who just does whatever the heck is needed to make sure that your day is a great one. Now, I haven't seen that many pictures of yours with Asgore in it, so I can't give how I see him... but I still think you'll show him super accurately!

I was actually going to make it a really big, oversized brush at first, so I'm glad I changed my mind, hehe.
I'm really glad you like how I represent the characters, it means a lot to me

Aw, thank you so much! What do you think of my attempts to mold out a good coloring/lining style? I'm trying new things right now.

Oh! I'm glad you asked me this directly, because I went back to look at your piece... & found more things I liked about it!!!
So, you mentioned working out a good coloring/lining style, & I couldn't help but see your subtle decisions to make some of the lines black & others a lighter gray! Ahh, & because I noticed it better this time... I just kept admiring the beautiful touches of detailing (the little gray lines) to sans' toothbrush head here~ They've added such depth & texture to the brush head, with just a few brilliantly placed strokes!!! The gray lines used for the joints in his fingers are also so great. To think: I so took these little things for granted the first time! : O
At the very least, I'd noticed the first time that while there is a shadow cast over the head from sans' hood, his eyes remain white without a shadow. I thought that was a pretty cool choice, for showing his toughness as everyone knows it; yet, as I looked again today, I see that you not only kept his eyes white but also gave them a bit more of a white glow!! I am *always* a fan of that approach: a little digital coloring that glows or blurs beyond the contour lines. ^w^!
In an earlier work that you completed, you mentioned that you were trying out a new approach with less shading (to go well with your line art style). &, I realized that I did not have a very good eye to tell you whether the difference was "greater" or "less," possibly because my imagination I guess fills in any gaps (?) as I see other artists' varied coloring approaches. So, for example: an artist posts their work. I look at it, admire it, +fav it-- & then when I'm about to go comment below, I read the artist's own comment: "Well I got the shading completely wrong on his arm but I'll have to fix it later"-- reflexively, I look back at the piece... & I see what the artist is saying! But honestly, to me it hadn't been this, like, "I don't look right!" detail to me *at all* before they said something. I've wondered if this is because I never took a color theory class, or I have a poorly developed eye for seeing the 3D (shadows, highlights, curved shapes, color tones) in an artist's coloring of their 2D works; &, I've conversely wondered, if an art piece just "looks good" because of the efforts, & only ever has flaws if those flaws are blatantly pointed out. So. ...I wasn't sure how to answer your question, on the previous piece, as to whether I liked one approach of yours better than another with the levels of shading. &, I'm afraid, I'm not able to offer much regarding your shading choices here in this piece, either. : < I'm very sorry about that...

Sorry it took me so long to reply, haha, it's just a really long comment. Thank you so much for your feedback, Jeanette! It's always so nice to read it in all its little details
What I meant about my new style is, rather than having a lot of strokes and gradeints in my shading style, I instead just have one solid color for a shadow, one solid color for the base, and sometimes, one solid color for the highlight. I think the bigger project that I'm working on right now shows this off better, maybe when you'll see it it'll help you decide if you like it better. Don't worry about not being able to tell now, that's perfectly fin
