It's the smallest convention I have ever been to! There were at MOST 200 total people there over the entire weekend. The smallest convention I had been to before that was 3,000.
But even thought it was small it was a lot of fun!

haha ok cool xD I'm taking japanese this year and I learned that the word Chiisai meant small and of course then I learned large which is Ookii
so that's why I was making sure it was small
xD gotta make sure the cons name is correct

Haha! I understand. I did the same thing when I heard the name of the convention. I hope Japanese is going well for you!
I took it for a year, and had a love hate relationship with it.

I I'm using rosetta stone. xD So I LOVE it! It's extremely helpful but I haven't really gotten into "Hey! My name is.... What's yours?" yet so that's a bummer xD
But I'm sure I'll get there eventually
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-04 16:12:34 +0000 UTC]
You will! It's actually really easy:
You would say "My name is ___."
"Watashi wa ____."
And then ask "What's your name?" (If they don't tell you, which they probably would.)
"O namae wa?"
Then they would answer, "Watashi wa _____."
Easy, right?

IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-04 16:23:12 +0000 UTC]
haha yup but the only thing I could think you may have missed might be the "desu" at the end so it'd be more: "Watashi wa nomai wa Ian desu." at least that's what I learned from some where but don't remember where

FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-04 17:19:17 +0000 UTC]
Whoops, I did miss the Desu. It's one of those things I don't think about when I say it anymore, so I forgot to type it. My bad, but nice catch!

Yeah! After saying it so much you almost forget that you're saying it. I have anciently added it to the end of an English spoken sentence before.

Wow xD that's funny We'll if that happens with me... Do you have people you speak japanese with? Cause I'm trying to figure out if that'd help... It probably would, so I might see if there are any japanese yoyoers who would be willing to talk with me xD

FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-04 20:40:30 +0000 UTC]
I have tried, but I only took it for a year, so I have a hard time with it. It probably would help if I knew more, but I'm still kind of a n00b when it come to the language. The girl I talk to in Japanese also knows English perfectly, so she like to tell me what words mean some times.

haha alright same here I'm a total n00b xD Well at least she knew english as well xD that sure helps

A little it does. She also speaks Korean, so sometimes her notes for class are written in a mix of all three languages without her realizing it.

haha that hilarious xD it's interesting that she speaks korean and japanese... where is she from originally?

FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-07 17:15:24 +0000 UTC]
It's complicated! She's Korean. She lived in Japan from First grade all the way until middleschool. And she's spent middle school, high school and college in the USA. So she's kind of from everywhere I guess.

IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-08 08:43:55 +0000 UTC]
haha awesome xD she's like me with one more country xDDD she's a TCK (Third Culture Kid) I'm american but at 8 we moved to turkey and have been here since then and now I'm about to move back to america for college
so that's pretty awesome xD

FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-09 02:20:04 +0000 UTC]
That's so cool! So do you know how to speak Turkish too then? (You could totally lie to me about this. I would have no idea! )
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-09 07:22:41 +0000 UTC]
LOL I do know turkish. I wouldn't lie about that xD kinda have to learn when you live in one area for 11 years... or else it's kinda pathetic if you ask me. But yea if you live in an area where only one language is spoken you pick it up fairly quick.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-09 17:13:49 +0000 UTC]
That's probably true. I've only ever lived in the same area, so I guess I didn't think about it like that. That's really cool! I always wished I could speak two languages.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-09 20:11:06 +0000 UTC]
Hahaha ok xD It's nice to know two languages but it's overrated unless you live in an area where it's needed, at least that's my personal opinion. xD oh btw I was wondering if you have any suggestions of what I should draw next? ^__^
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-09 20:39:02 +0000 UTC]
I guess whatever you fell like drawing? That's probably not too helpful. If you want more popularity, try to draw something that's really popular right now. (Make sure it's something you're also into!) I'm not into ponies, but if you are a Brony, a pony picture would probably get you tons of views. Maybe something like that anyway?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-09 20:45:23 +0000 UTC]
haha yea I had thought of doing something for all the bronies out there though I'm not a huge fan of MLP: FIM xD but yea I'll figure something out

FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-09 20:46:38 +0000 UTC]
Well, if you're not a huge fan, then don't draw it! You should make artwork you like.
Whatever you're a huge fan of, try drawing that!

haha ok ;D well I have mixed feeling about MLP BUt I think I'll be drawing Jack Frost from Rise of The Gaurdians even though I haven't seen the movie yet... I'm SO bummed it did come out here this month... it's not coming out till march >.>
and then I'm gonna do some adventure time art

It's not out yet, but the fandom for Rise of the Guardians is really big! That and Wreck it Ralph is basically all that pops up in my tumblr feed.

I thought rise of the guardians was out in the theaters in america... well both of those are movies I REALLY want to see xD but they won't be out in the theaters for a few months here in turkey >.> but luckily The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes out on friday here!!! DD I can't wait for that one! xD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-10 15:04:29 +0000 UTC]
It probably is. I'm don't tend to go to the movies very much, so I forget to pay attention to that kind of thing.
I'll see it when it comes out on DVD.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-10 16:49:09 +0000 UTC]
Yea... I usually know when movies are coming out. I love movies so it can go slightly overboard sometimes on what movies are coming out and when. But usually that's how it is for me as well, I'll see it once it comes out on DVD. But for some certain movies that look esp. good I like going to see them in the movie theaters. So yea... xD are there any movies you'll go and see in the theaters?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-10 17:11:50 +0000 UTC]
Well, I saw Wreck it Ralph, because I'm such a gaming nerd I HAD to see it! I also saw Brave, but that's because I'm really into Archery, so I was excited for that one too. Before that, I don't remember!
I'll go if other people are going to the movies, but a lot of my friends are poor college kids, so we don't go very often.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-10 18:41:57 +0000 UTC]
oh ok cool I saw Brave last week and I was honestly a bit weirded out by the movie and didn't like it a ton... But I wanted to see Wreck-It Ralph but the system for releasing movies is so damn stupid! If it's animated it's sure to come out late cause they HAVE to dub it over... and the voices they use to dub it are horrible -__- and only sometimes do they also have a showing in english with turkish subtitles... SO I'll end up waiting till it come out on DVD and then downloading it to watch
But I can understand not going to the movies often xD the last one I went to see saw The Dark Knight Rises and before that The Amazing Spider-Man. So yea... xD But at the same time it's so much cheaper to see a movie here than in America so I'll miss that in college
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-10 18:53:05 +0000 UTC]
I didn't even think about the dubbing thing! That would be kind of weird to have to watch an American movie in another language, since you can speak English. I don't normally think about animated movies going to other countries like that.
Would the lip flaps even fit that well? I'll agree about Brave. I was a little disappointed when I saw it too. It was cute, but I think it could have been a lot better. I was happy that most of the Archy styles were accurate though.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-10 20:25:02 +0000 UTC]
Yea they do fairly well matching speech style. But the voices are just incredibly annoying and it doesn't help that they have roughly the same voice actors for al dubbed movies -__- therefore there's no variation in characters... Where as in america you have hundreds if not thousands of voice actors... :/
The archery was great in Brave though I can't say by any means I'm an expert or say what I'm talking about but I do love it ^_^
DD The other animated movie I'm looking forward to my pixar and disney is Monster University!!!
DDD I'm psyched it's coming out this summer esp. since I start my freshman year in August! ^_^ I'm a nerd like that xD

I really don't know much about cons to tell the truth most of the stuff I have seen or know comes from watching some of my favorite cosplayers con videos so that'd be from: Dejavudea, Sirene, and CourtoonXIII, and then non cosplayer acksonl. But I have no clue honestly... but it'll be somewhere on the east coast xDDD got any suggestions? And I have to agree the nerd life is the best life xD I geek out when watching con videos honestly xDDD
so yea.... xD

no I don't mind saying it's just I'm not sure which college I'll be attending yet but I'l either be in arkansas or indiana most likely. and I have family in south carolina, minnesota, and virginia. so it'd have to be in those general areas xD
so it's still really vague xD and probably not much help
but that's what I know for now xD

FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-11 18:20:21 +0000 UTC]
Well, maybe this will help a little: [link]
Once you figure out what area you'll be in, it'll be easier to look up conventions close to you. I'm in Ohio, so I always go to Ohayocon and Matsuicon. Last summer, we drove down and went to Chiisaicon too. It also depends on what kind of convention you want. Like, some people say the bigger the better, while other people are more comfortable in a small convention setting. I like both because each have their own pros and cons. For a first time con goer, I would suggest something with about 3 or 4 thousand people. It's not too tiny, but it also wont be that stressful like the huge ones can be.

IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-11 18:52:04 +0000 UTC]
ok cool good to know! ^_^ I think I'll plan to go to one in the summer actually xD cause then I can pretty much go where ever
but other wise I'll have to go some where that is close to what ever school I go to. But there's two cons that are both about 2 hours away from both colleges I got accepted into xD so that's a plus!
though I have no clue the size of them xD
I wanna go to the con that dejavudea just went to cause one looked pretty awesome
and it was large xD It was in Washington DC i believe.

FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-11 18:55:43 +0000 UTC]
My first con was considered a large convention too, but it was still fun for me. A little overstimulating at the time, but a lot of fun. If it was in DC it was probably Anime USA. That's huge! The biggest one in the US is anime Expo in CA, but that's on the wrong side of the state.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-11 19:03:31 +0000 UTC]
haha well it looked fun nonetheless but yea xD ok well at some point I wanna get over to CA for a con
cause Stan Lee's Kamikaze Con is there and Anime Expo is as well
DD I wanna go and just run around getting a ton of pictures with people xDDD I'm nerding out right now thing about a ton of people in one area who love all the same stuff i do xD for one con I'm actually gonna have to do either Nes from Earthbound or Chikusa Kakimoto from Katekyo Hitman Reborn! cause both of them have yoyos they use xD
(I'm a competitive yoyoer...) Man I can't wait for college! Gonna be so much fun
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-11 19:39:13 +0000 UTC]
If you're a competitive yoyoer, and I saw you at a convention as Nes, I would die a little on the inside of happiness! Just saying.
You'll have a blast at college! It's a lot of work, but it's also a LOT of fun!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IanLammiArt In reply to FuzzyRedPants [2012-12-11 20:25:16 +0000 UTC]
Haha well I'll have to cosplay as Ness then if I go to a con! The great thing about his costume is it's freakin easy to do even better I think he has a backpack which would be awesome cause I love to be able to go arround with my backpack to keep stuff in
I guess I should plan on Ness and Gaara as my first two cosplays ^__^
Yea... From what I gather I'll have a great time at college but classes will be hard xD i guess you can't have a win win all the time. But because I'm going to go into illustration I feel it slightly is xD but I'll probably get annoyed of the class at some point and not want to do it when i have to
but hopefully that won't be soon xD What are you majoring in?

FuzzyRedPants In reply to IanLammiArt [2012-12-12 18:11:35 +0000 UTC]
I hope you gets some good pictures of your cosplays too!!
I actually just graduated last spring. I majored in Human Ecology, though the job I just got has little to do with it.
I'm trying to get into Grad School now to get my Masters in Social Work. Once you get into the classes for your major, you should enjoy school a lot more. It's getting the General Education classes out of the way that are a pain!!

I think the first I'll do is Ness actually just cause he'd be easy to do
Well I can honestly say I have no clue what Human Ecology is
though I do know what social work is
haha true enough xD I'm definitely looking forward to a ton of at classes

Basically I studied Human Development and Family Sciences.
You're lucky your dad is a professional photographer!! That will make getting some decent pictures a lot easier for you!! Ness is probably a good first cosplay for you. It's not a very hard one to make, but it's a popular characters that people know, so they'll love it. Plus, you (apparently) have mad yo yo skills to back it up and make it even that much cooler!

do you have any other video game characters you think I should draw? ^_^

You should totally do art of Ness! Honestly, I love anything from Smash Brothers. But that's probably kind of obvious with the cosplays I make.
