She is. Definitely one of the most unique models I've shot with. She has a real classical beauty.

Oh, the red certainly stands out, all right... I'm such a sucker for wistful/ruminative demeanors... Love that delicate pose.

This is probably my favourite shot from the shoot, and I wasn't sure about it to start off with, because selective saturation can be very kitsch. But all's well that ends well

I know how you feel about the selective saturation, but you've done it really gently and tastefully - there are still tones of colour in her skin which makes it less harsh. Nice one, bruvva! Love the arms, legs and shoulders!

FuzzyYak In reply to gillybeenz [2009-05-12 14:25:13 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Gills. Selective Saturation is touch and go, it's so easy to make it look kitsch, that's why I'm so careful of it.

I think the selective saturation looks great here! And the image overall is really beautiful.

I'm just not too sure about her face being dark as opposed to the rest of her body which is quite light. I'm no lighting guru, but I think it would be perfection if her body was lit in a similar way to her face.

Valid point. Unfortunately that's how the light fell.

RWPhoto525 [2009-05-11 18:58:09 +0000 UTC]

The geometry of this image is wonderful. Selective saturation works here, as a sort of modernistic duotone. The shadows on the face and neck are too much IMHO, and contrast too sharply with the shadowlessness of the rest of the body and the throw, and makes the head seem almost detached from the body. But that's just me...

And then some! I don't use anything else now, 'cept for a spotlight to get the rimlight on the back. Beauty dish gives me really nice, focussed light. I love it.
