Hehehe, yeh. I actually had a bit of a rant at him about that. He's gorgeous AND he can sing and play guitar. It's NOT fair!

i think its over exposed.
its a striking photo but i feel its just looses that with the bleed on the exposure. it would stand out more if i could see the lines. but everything has been blurred by the exposure. it feels like to me that you werent happy with the edges so you started spreading the background in more and just got carried away. especially on the hair.I can almost see definitive brush strokes in the hair. You know i love your work and this is a good photo. i just think that you went a little to far on the processing thats all.

FuzzyYak In reply to kiwiman16 [2010-02-17 16:17:11 +0000 UTC]

Heheheh, I didn't actually do anything to the background. I added a glow to the shot and that's what you're seeing on the hair.

There was a sofbox behind him, that's why you're seeing light over the edges. No dodging or burning was done.

thanks for the feedback though.

Could you please explain the light scheme? A big rear window, that's sure; frontal light... is it another window?
I'm happy to see your great job is better than ever

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FuzzyYak In reply to DavidVG [2009-11-25 10:56:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much for the compliment.

Can I assume that by "window" you mean "light"? Because the shot doesn't have any natural light, it was all done in studio.

You are almost right in your explanation though. There is one light behind him, and another in front, high up, behind the camera. Both have soft-boxes on and, if I remember correctly, the light in front had a grid on.

It's a little difficult to expose it correctly to get the visible light wrapping around him, but once you get it right, you get some very cool effects

I don't remember my lighting set-ups most of the time. I just play around until I like what I see

Thanks again for your kind words and interest.

DavidVG In reply to FuzzyYak [2009-11-25 18:46:24 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for explaining
Yes, I meant light; I guess I was a little tired when I wrote that and I translated literally from spanish (we call it "light window", "ventana de luz")
I've been tryng something like that but I find it really difficult to control!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FuzzyYak In reply to DavidVG [2009-11-25 19:19:47 +0000 UTC]

It takes some adjusting and messing about to get it right. But it's one of my favourite lighting setups

FuzzyYak In reply to hawkeye1 [2009-11-15 05:32:00 +0000 UTC]

Classicism is outdated. New frontiers must be explored or we'll stagnate and become uninspired.

Without fashion there can be no style...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hawkeye1 In reply to FuzzyYak [2009-11-18 03:31:45 +0000 UTC]

Frogshit. True style is not dependent on what other people are doing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FuzzyYak In reply to hawkeye1 [2009-11-18 05:09:00 +0000 UTC]

Well, this isn't what other people are doing. So that makes it true style then?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hawkeye1 In reply to FuzzyYak [2009-11-21 10:29:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, to me, true style means something that is timeless..which brings us back to classicism

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FuzzyYak In reply to hawkeye1 [2009-11-21 10:52:37 +0000 UTC]

So you are telling me that my work is not timeless? Nice....
