The final version of this will probably not be posted. I was forced to stretch her so she wasn't so thick, but rather that cliche (not common in reality) ' petite below the waist but have size DD and up breast'; change her hair to blond; and make her clothes all white.
Looking through my work, one would see how diverse I try to be right? And you'd see I attempt that with all of ip01. Unfortunately, a discussion (right before I started work on ip01 character 03 actually) I was having with one of the more establish artist I know was proven right on his end: He basically said that I could provide a diverse selection, but they'll always pick the white one. They're just about what they think will sale to the people, and Caucasians are it.
I still aim to NOT submit to that painful fact about the industry (illustration, concepts, etc). Because it's infuriating as all hell to see the same thing 80% of the time in an industry that otherwise have SO MANY possibilities. Seriously, it's so rare that I see a truly diverse character, that I become exited every time I happen to come across one. It's like "oh my god...the facial features aren't European and the hair isn't straight?...THAT'S SO OUT THERE", and that's a sad thing.

Great Artz Man! BTW, I totally understand what you mean. I've thought on that same subject so much. I've been trying to be diversified in the designing of my characters for my animation demo.
Don't worry your style and diversity is what attracted me to your gallery. I'm glad I found it. I'm sure others, who aren't blinded by green, will also find your work appealing.
Again, I'm glad to have stubbled across you here. es

skinny below and DD in chest...yeah, maybe if you're Dolly Parton haha but no one else. Usually if you're really thin or petite below you are up top too.
I'm sorry about your frustrations. I hope you can still have some fun with the project and get what you can out of it. Your concept sketches are looking good so far.

You're right, such shapes are rare without any surgery. I love the shapes of women, so it's annoying to see the same rare shape over and over again. What's more interesting, is how a womans' shape can convey some insight into her ancestral background.
Yeah, I'm still able to make myself have fun and actually mean it. It's just in the aftermath when all is finished that I grow annoyed with things. But, that is just the way it is right now I'm still considered to be in the beginning of my career, so such happenings come with the territory. In the meantime, I'll just continue working to become successful enough that I don't have to deal with it so much someday.

that's very true. I happen to be rather thin but my hips AND chest are small as well but I'm northern european in ancestry so it goes with the territory. But if you go to the other end of the spectrum in the pacific islands you get very voluptuous woman.
And I think that's true with most industries. The more experience you have the more you get to have a say in things. You know like with actors, when they just start out they have to take any job that someone offers cause they're starving but once they're Merly Streep they can say no to just about anything they don't consider on their par.
The head of my printmaking dept at my university is to a point in his career now where he doesn't participate in shows or call for entries if he can't in someway tie it in to where he is conceptually with his work.
Just keep plowing on through and learning and growing is all we can do! Which I certainly hope you do <3

I think that's why i like your work, G, you don't stick to one tne or shade; you mix it up. There is ethnicity out there, you know, and it is just as likely with the possibilities as the caucasian. There is more than peach like brown, chocolate, and bronze and you recognize that and manage not to submit to that fact in the industry.
That's what makes you awesome.

Isn't sad when a few select individuals decide what people want to see? When their claims are warped by their own perception and/or the vision they, as a whole, have of the people's need. People just want something that is a reflection of who they are and not the vision of a few peeps in "power".
I, like Chrome-mate, particularly enjoy your art because it is so diverse. Keep-up the good work, without counting on it, perhaps one day they'll be fruity and choose a concept you like. By any means, as an artist, keep doing what you love and sharing your vision with us.

I completely agree with your statement above. I just love seeing a character that is against the norm and is so different. Of course thats taking into consideration not a forced attempt at different like just throwing shit together. But a good real concept thats different and just refreshing to look at, so you want to hold onto it to remind yourself that its not all underwraps out there to the unwritten rules.
As for this peice i love her body shape. And particularly love the leg tattoo. My fav is D.

Screw them all to hell, your characters are bomb. One of the reasons you are one of my favourite artists is because of that fact. They really are different. The don't have itty-bitty waits or european facial features, as you put it. I LOVE that. It makes your characters so much more lovable, I think. Sorry if I'm fan-girling, but I hate that this shit gets you down because honestly, your diversity is what makes your art so unique. It's freaking sad that there aren't more artists like you. Seriously, keep up the good work. I'm sure someone in the market will love work your and appreciate it as much as we all do here on DA.
