I just love the story so much. I love the language of the book and all the hidden things in it, and I love the characterization in the '03 movie, and even the old Disney animated, while not a favorite of mine...I don't know, I think things in this story just capture so many levels of humanity....the adventure and careless cruelty of youth, devotion, wish fulfillment & adventure, love that can never quite turn out the way you'd hope. It's so many levels, and yet still a children's story.
