Description
This pic was inspired by speculations that Persona 1 and 2 characters are stronger than 3+4 since they don't need anything to call out their Personas and they were given to them by Philemon.. but it's really hard to say if 1 + 2 and 3 + 4 are related at all aside from the Personas (of course ^.^; ), the Tatsuya/Maya internet game in P3 and the whole shadow self thing in P4..Anyways..Just my Megaten dorkiness coming out X3.
Tatsuya-me!
Maya-Rinkara
Pile of Persona 3 characters with everyone except MC-mostly unknown ^.^;

I've played all of them, except P1 haven't gotten it yet, and Persona 2's story is by far the best. Not that the others are bad, but not as good as P2. And as much as I love P5 I still have to say P2 is better than it

Yes! I'm glad there's someone else who can understand this~ Among the newer persona from 3-5, I'd say 5 is the best though.

I would Persona 2 is better than Persona 3 for one reason: A better written storyline. Sure, it gets a little ridiculous, but the characters are ultimately more human and relatable. It's easier to get attached to characters like Eikichi Mishina, whose arrogant personality is just that much more relatable, because we all know people like that, and despite his arrogance, like the rest of the cast, they all grow to care about each other rather than themselves or their own goals.
Persona 3 seems a little forced in that it forces the characters to develop faster, and doesn't give them the same mercy Persona 2 does.

From what I understand... Persona 1 and Persona 2 Personae-users are stronger in that their Personae trust them, understand them and have been awake for a period of time, and actually talk a lot. Persona 3, the Evokers were used to forcibly evoke their Personae, which is how they are capable of going berserk, like how Shinjiro's did, because they're not coming out willingly. Persona 4 Personae could be different in that they tame their own Shadow... but the Persona 2 characters were able to overcome their psychotic Shadow Selves, who used their own version of their Ultimate Personae... created by Nyalry.
That and I think the Persona 4 Personaes can be summoned only in the Midnight Channel, not sure.

Persona 1 and 2's protgonists are only More Adaptational due to being wildcards.
It doesn't nessacarliy mean they are more powerful by default..
And while they Failed to kill Nyarly, yu killed Izanami herself, without any outside help or sealing to be done.
Also, Social Links allow for stronger Persona for the main character in 3 and 4 then the previous, as well as Person 4 golden having a third level for all the Persona users.

I would also like to add that your comment about Yu killing Izanami by himself without any help is bullshit. Because Yu required the Orb of Truth from Igor to reveal Izanami's true form.

And after that, all he needed was the power of his social links, so that he could use the true power of Izanagi to kill Izanami.

Yes. But how can you kill that which is part of humanity as a whole? It's impossible?
Yeah. Izanami died. What the heck ever. Means she was weak in comparison to something like Philemon or Nyarlotep who can't die and hold considerable power over Personae as a whole, given that Philemon has an attack called Armageddon R that is used if you use Armageddon on him because he can't be affected by it.
Srsly. Why do you people constantly go on and on about how Yu killed a god and how he is the strongest and shit like that when the final bosses of Persona 2 and 3 were things you could never kill no matter how powerful you were. Nyx was Death Incarnate, how do you kill death? Philemon and Nyarlothotep were two sides of the psyche of all of humanity and impossible to kill because they would always exist.
Also why are you replying to something that was said in September?

Izanami is one the highest level beings of Shintoism.
Aside from Having THE izanagi or the fact that in the Shin Megami Tensei Franchise (Persona included), all the Persona's and Demons are directly connected to their real life mythological counterparts.
Philomon and Nyarlathotep are stronger because instead of being directly connected to whatever counterpart they have (Philemon has none), they embody the good and Evil Aspects of humanity. This doesn't make them automatically stronger, either.
Also, Izanami is like Philemon and Nyarly in that she also represents humanity in some way.
So there's no need to act snooty about something just because Persona 1 and 2 aren't well known. Considering how archaic and more like the Original Shin Megami Tensei games, they aren't really necessay, or even recommended, to be used as starting points to get into persona.

well its not that they didnt need anything to summon persona (if your talking about the evokers) they just havnt been made yet. every persona game is a stand alone story but the timeline is consecutive. the evokers were invented by the kirijo group for use of easier summoning. for example, mitsuru can summon her persona without an evoker because she was trained. but prefers an evoker due to the stress from summoning without one. the kirijo group has proven that one can be trained (rather forced) to learn how to gain the potential. and the use of an evoker (contrary to modern belief) is not necassery.
for this and other facts about the persona universe, visit me on my page and leave a comment or a note

Yeah, its true the evoker idea wasn't really there til P3 but still it seemed as if the characters from 1 and 2 still had no problem or stress summoning from the moment their personas awakened without training .Heck, Eikichi just used his in the beginning to keep the students at his school in line. Plus I remember at some point in Persona 2 that either Brad or Chucky one actually just uses their persona just for everyday things like making money rather than solely fighting.
Yet then again, your right about the stories as there are very different scenarios from 1 + 2 to 3 + 4 and different circumstances on how they got their personas that does make them more stand alone ^^~

Really it could just be related to the differences in how they got their Persona ability. Or because the Persona 2 cast beat the living crap out of Philemon and Narly...haha.

One could argue that The personas in 3/4 are stronger because you need to envoke them.

FyreGothChylde In reply to Remstigma [2011-08-21 07:18:00 +0000 UTC]
Technically the personas from Persona 1 and 2 were kinda evoked as well as the characters basically had to have the history of playing this summoning type game together at least once in order to gain the ability to do so..They could be of equal strength in all actuality? Guess only the creators know hehe~
