"Dear guest...Long ago, I was in an animal troupe with dogs and donkeys and such.
Why could a...? Why could a...? Why could a man join?!?
That's 'cause a man is an animal, too, my boy!
They were all great. But there was one thing I didn't like about it...
Why was the...? Why was the...? Why was the dog the leader?!?
Was it 'cause something was wrong with me, sir???
Oh, that dog was an amazing leader!
He always had a stellar troupe no matter what animals he had to work with...
That's why I...That's why I...That's why I stole it.
The dog's mask.
I stole it.
I wanted it because it was the leader's mask..."
...Yup. The thought just popped into my head when he was saying that he stole the leader's mask, and the expression he had conveyed an extreme sense of jealousy. Given the Guru Guru we all know--alternate world or not--I think it's pretty plausible he'd go that far.
Took me 3 days I think, to do this on PaintTool SAI (which I'm still kinda a novice at compared to others). Lighting was a paaaaaiiiinnnnn in the aaaaaassss..... And my laptop's been bugging up lately. Not my week so far.
It was a pleasant change from the Adventure Time fanart I've been doing, I must admit. Been a while since I've done any Zelda stuff.

Guru-Guru has always been one of my favorite LoZ characters but I've never considered that he would kill a poor dog for a mask, I've always thought je had just stolen it while everyone was sleeping or something. The sadder part is that this could have been what was actually done due to the fact that MM dosnt seem to mind being as dark and deep as it can. Also, it did strike me as a bit strange that he would get so mad and crazy over a simple stealing of the mask of a dog. Either he really did do something awful, or he has wierd anger issue problems. (wow, I could count this as one of my longest comments) But anyways, the detail is pretty good and the dramatic angle of the picture fits the mood. Nice artistry all and all!

Yes, that struck me as odd, as well (hence this deviation), but him simply stealing the mask in the middle of the night before running away is entirely plausible, too. Although Miyamoto probably won't say anything about it, that path might be closer to canon...though this IS MM, after all, so killing the dog might be more fitting. :/
...Unless, of course, Guru-Guru just has severe problems with guilt, in which case, that's wholly anticlimactic in my opinion.

Y'know... I always thought the mask was kept by the people running the circus, and Guru Guru snuck in and stole it while the officials were sleeping, then ran away with it.
But whatever works for you is fine by me.

I believe there are many takes on how he obtained the mask, but Miyamoto is the only one who can give us the true story. Though, I doubt he will do just that. xD

Chills, man, chills. This has a lot of potential, but you should clean it up a bit, the glows make the picture look faded.

I would clean it up if I knew how to. xD It was hard enough trying to get some light in there with my neophyte skills on SAI, let alone trying to find some other way to do it. I dunno if there's a tutorial for it out there, though.

It's a very plausible theory. If it's bothered him this much after who-knows-how-long, then it could possibly be something to that level. And since this IS Majora's Mask--aka THE darkest Zelda game--it wouldn't be too off. Everyone's got a secret. >.>
