I see that you have caught an interesting contrast and parallel here, G-Chris.
Foremost, thank you for sharing this work. I hope that the recipient is most pleased.
Your use of heavy lighting and bold colors is quite effective. Also, your sketchy, rough-hewn border of the image adds a raw life, contrasted by the airy, sky-like gradient of the background behind Kuma.
The details and linework of Franky are a degree more fine than the thick, broad work which comprises Kuma. I take from that a kind of sense that Franky is the more human, driven, living figure - whilst something of Kuma is more saint-like (that being: one who was killed, and later revered). Kuma's depiction gains something of the hard edged, three-toned Byzantine style of old.
Also, each of their respective crimson eye lights points to either a left or right association. Again, a factor which I appreciate, as it accentuates a duality and contrast of their situations, story, and essence.
