please read this if you're going to even attempt to argue meI'm fucking sick and tired of arguing this offline and on.
I don't give a shit what the "Bible" says, the Bible doesn't determine the meaning of the word animal.
GET THE HELL OVER IT!
Being an animal is based of biological properties, NOT BEHAVIOR, SPIRITUALITY OR INTELLIGENCE! In other words stop using the lame arguements: Humans have souls, cause wars, are smarter, have morals and any other bullshit related to our behavior.
THAT HAS NOTHING AND I REPEAT NOTHING TO DO WITH HUMANS BEING ANIMALS, DIMWIT!!!
Why can't you just look up what animal means instead of arguing using an outdated book?
Really would you argue that elephants aren't indangered because an outdated text says their population is fine? FUCK NO! So why argue the meaning of a word by using old text?
Meanings of words change over time, the definition of animal is one of those words and no amount of arguing with G-manluver will make your argument right.
You're wrong, humans are animals, you're wrong, too bad, so sad, use a dictionary, you're wrong!

I agree, really people should open up a dictionary or a encyclopedia when wanting to debate with me. I alway state my opinion when it is that, if I don't its because I'm saying scientific facts which aren't my opinion.
Which is always funny because they try to put it off as me being blindly stupid for arguing humans are animals. Because you know its stupid to use a dictionary to find out the meaning of a work right?

I really don't have as much a problem getting across that people are animals, it's the "insects are animals" that people don't understand. I think the more ignorant confuse the word animal and mammal -_-

I mean. I remember when I was, what, five? I read in one of those children's encyclopedias what an 'animal' was, because I wanted to know technically, haha. I was all happy when I read that I too was an animal... which then led me to think I was part dog.

It's like they think being catergorised as an animal makes them less human somehow, does being an animal make a dog less of a dog? Just because some ridiculously old and incoherent book panders to their self centered delusions of grandeur and overwhelming fear of their own mortality they think its acceptable to butcher language and everything else in the world according to its out-dated doctrines.

Biologically, yes, yes we are. Same stuff as other animals. Funny how some people think otherwise. It is also true that humans have a much more advanced brain than animals, but we all have the same biological components as animals. I think that we might have additions that animals don't, like souls, but we're still pretty much animals all the same.

While this is an old post, which perhaps I should leave to die, I feel the need to point out: the Alchemist is a fictional book.
Now, I agree with you in that I believe that everything has a soul (by one definition, that would be animism) I just wouldn't advise quoting a fictional book to back your belief up.
Although, depending where you stand, the Bible could also be considered a fictional book. I leave that as it is. x.X

yeah that's my point, the word "animal" applies to biological traits, the ones that classify animals are found in humans so thus we are animals. We can argue humans have souls but that doesn't actually distinguish us from being classified as animals.
Human biological traits have us grouped with mammals and further down to primates and even further to homonidae.

I think it's fucking hilarious how arrogant human beings are when they believe that they alone think and feel, and that they are awarded some different set of rules and logic that are just too damn good to apply to the fuzzy four-legged animals of the world.
I hope that by the time the next species on this planet rises up to be the dominant one we're all dead and gone, because if not, we're going to be in for some torturous shit.
