please read this if you're going to even attempt to argue meI'm fucking sick and tired of arguing this offline and on.
I don't give a shit what the "Bible" says, the Bible doesn't determine the meaning of the word animal.

Being an animal is based of biological properties, NOT BEHAVIOR, SPIRITUALITY OR INTELLIGENCE! In other words stop using the lame arguements: Humans have souls, cause wars, are smarter, have morals and any other bullshit related to our behavior.
THAT HAS NOTHING AND I REPEAT NOTHING TO DO WITH HUMANS BEING ANIMALS, DIMWIT!!!
Why can't you just look up what animal means instead of arguing using an outdated book?
Really would you argue that elephants aren't indangered because an outdated text says their population is fine? FUCK NO! So why argue the meaning of a word by using old text?
Meanings of words change over time, the definition of animal is one of those words and no amount of arguing with G-manluver will make your argument right.

sweet, yeah I argue with people of many ages about this, most are religious and think the bible determines the meaning of the word "animal". That alone is stupid because if religion could change the meaning of a word, language would fall!

I agree. Humans are animals. I mean, we all share the same basic instincts. We eat when hungry, sleep when tired, defend ourselves when threatened, and have sex to pass on our genetic code to the next generation.

What really bugs me is when people say that humans are "more intelligent" or "more sentient" or "are more emotionally aware" than animals.
Seriously, WTF? I mean, sure, animals don't drive cars or talk on cell phones or surf the internet. BUT, many species of animal are quite intelligent and self-aware enough to realize what's going on around them. For example, a few species of mammal (mostly primates) are capable of recognizing themselves in the mirror. That's a sign of sentience once thought to only occur in humans. Likewise, there are several species of birds and mammals that use rocks, sticks, and leaves as basic tools...Again, something once thought to be a human-only trait. In fact, the use of tools could very well likely be something that was passed onto us human beings through our evolutionary ancestors since tool-making would help them/us adapt to changes in the environment.

exactly, its highly believe that humans gained the ability to stand upright because of tool use. Not using out frontlimbs to walk gave us that needed evolutionary boost that has made are species so advance.

Plus religious fanatics are always trying to convince others that humans are "superior" to animals in every way. Erm...no Can humans fly? Not without an airplane or any other form of flying machinery. Can humans breathe underwater? Not unless they're wearing SCUBA gear. Can humans regenerate lost limbs? No.
No species of animal is "superior" to others. It's just that some are better adapted to certain environments than others.

exactly it! We may be well adapted but in reality several species of insects are well more well adapted than humans, hell some flower beatles can survive over 100x as much radiation as a human.

Also, there's an animal called the Hydra (named after the dragon of Greek mythology) that has biologists interested in it because it doesn't age, thus making it biologically immortal- [link] And BOTH of these animals are simple invertebrates.
