Description EZ-016B Sabre Tiger the Bloody with CP-44 Hurricane
Tiger Type
Crew: 1 Weight: 100 tonnes Depth: 15.6m Height: 10.5m Maximum Speed: 360km/hr
Weapons: Killer Sabre (2), Strike Claws (4), Anti-Zoid Triple-Barrelled Shock Cannon, 250mm AZ Triple-Barrelled Long-Range Cannon (2), 75mm AZ Laser Vulcan Cannon, 60mm AZ Medium-Range Laser Cannon (2).
Equipment: Optical Camoflauge, Multiple Sensor Baffles, Holotech Armour, Organoid System, Multiple-purpose dischargers, Magnesser/Booster Unit (4), Micro-manoeuvre boosters (2), Composite Sensor/Targetting System.

I ~finally~ completed painting that Holotech Sabre Tiger that I got at Manifest 2008! This was by far one of the most extensive painting jobs that I've done, such is the nature of translucent/Holotech Zoids (requires complete coverage, inside and outside, to make the tiger look red rather than the yellow that it originally was). The weapons came from various Blox CPs (which were, as luck would have it, Holotech as well!). I'll post another photo with Sabre Tiger's original weapons once I finish painting those.

Ingredients:
1x Clear Yellow Holotech Sabre Tiger
2x Tamiya X-27 Clear Red paint (I kid you not about the '2x' bit)
1x Aqueous Hobby Color H-9 Gold
1x Humbrol Enamel Silver

CP-44 Hurricane:
1x each of the following Blox CPs: Dispelow, Laser/Scissor Storm, Leo Striker and Boldguard.

Nice custom! It's given me reason to stop hating my holotech sabre. I think I'm going to try painting mine orange or red with black or dark gray accents. I also bought some clear CP like you have here, for mine. I think it will turn out a lot different, but I'm definitely using yours as inspiration!Β

I truely just do not like the look of the clear yellow sabre. xD

Yellow's not a very pretty look; I would've thought that red (like the OJR and NJR Saber Tigers) would've made sense, although I suppose they decided to link it with the cartoon; I dunno. XD

Glad to be an inspiration; I'll have to see what you come up with!

p.s. My clear orange one didn't go too badly either. I'll have to see if I can get another holotech Saber and see what I can come up with next!

I guess you can add blue and make a green one too? lol

I'm going to strip the black/blue paint off the shoulders and paint them another clear colour as well. Possibly gonna see if I can pull off making them clear black, even though they'll have a yellow base.Β

I never thought of trying to strip the shoulder paint (I don't have the right tools to do it properly without futzing the surface!); I'd love to see your holotech custom with that sorted.

I found that "neutral" shades such as greys and blacks tend to show a touch of the original colour of the plastic underneath, and adding too much of the shade makes the plastic lose its transparency altogether (I had that problem when trying for a grey/smoke canopy top for my orange tiger), so you have to experiment with finding the right balance. Good luck!

Ah! *finding this now, ignore question I left on front page*

I wonder if sharpies would have the same effect. o_o They're great for turning the canopy red... *eyes my Zaberfang*

I reckon sharpies would have a similar effect (you might also get a somewhat higher degree of control). I don't have that many spare Zoids to play with, much less Holotechs, so here's hoping I get another opportunity to do something like this in the future. ^.^

Heh, I don't have many spare zoids either, I have finally bitten back my urge to keep first zoids undoctored, and started personalizing them. XD; For some reason, it makes the zoids more ... us, because few, if any, people have another like it. ^^

Rambling, sorry. XD;

How have you personalised your Zoids ('jointing', painting, etc.), and where do you get your inspirations from?

For the most part, I tend to keep my Zoids and only customise those that I have spares of (such as KΓΆnig Wolf; my spare NJR K-woof is now KΓΆnig Wolf Unit 01 and I've an[other] K-woof Mk-II somewhere) or those whose colours don't make me want to keep them enough (such as this Tiger [I've already got that 'gold' SCV] and a Genesis Molga that is being repainted).

I had three Diloforces and personalised two of them via repaints. [link] Fivebrand and [link] Gijgeju (inspirations explained there. XD; And are really long).
I also took a spare Helcat and spare Unenlagia and made Hellagia, the dorkiest thing ever! Inspiration: boredom. XD

Then I flexi'd my (only) gunsniper so I could have a decent manakin for roofwalker drawings. Long story short, my best skill on Zoids Battle Legends is getting on the roofs and trouncing the AI opponents up there. XD; And it's hard to draw a leaping Gunsniper when you can't get them to pose right.
Then I Amaterasu'd my (only) Konig because I used it to show the size of my Pipecleaner Amaterasu then thought that'd be cool. Cairo still hates me.

Lessee... Then I was going to change my only Rev's colours, but the silver sharpie looked so cool on it I left it plain and called it Greyscale. XD

Then I attacked my only Barigator with a black sharpie and blue fingernail polish to make it look like it was morning, since I got it a looong time ago and named it Crikey, after what the croc hunter would say, and after he died, I couldn't even look at the barigator without getting upset.

Aand... oh yea, I had a spare sledgehead, it was my first custom, I painted it to be slightly darker and sparkley... it was the lamest repaint I've ever done.

Oh yes, and Diploguns Roy, I took my only Diploguns and ... well, I'm not done with this one. I sharpied it silver in preparation, and just recently bought the fingernail polish to paint it with, but I popped out the green 'eyes' and wrapped the diplocaulus-like helmet with a ribbon on one side, and put 'teeth' down the rail cannon, and drew an eye in the ... um, eye... It's meant to look like D-Roy, Arrancar 16. XD;

And finally, I have a spare Pteras that I'm giving a repaint to, so it will look like my Honda. I loved my honda to the point my friend called me Jamie (like the little boy who loved his Pteras so much XD). But the touch-up paint that's for my honda is really smelly. (I had to trade my honda in, so I'm doing that in memory.)

That's a fair few customs there! How long have you been doing it (I started just over a year ago)?

My first ever custom (involving paint) was a Diploguns (needless to say, one could easily tell that it was my first time using paint; no pics just yet ^,^).

How did your KΓΆnig Wolf get the name 'Cairo'? My one's (the white one, of course) named Goggles. X3

I really really like Egypt, and for some reason Cairo stuck. XD; I think it was because Cairo and Konig start with 'kuh' and have two syllables XD

Um... Started the customs or collecting zoids? o_o I could tell you starting customs, but not sure about zoids.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

G0ggles In reply to Proitzen [2008-10-30 11:47:28 +0000 UTC]

Have you been to Egypt? I learned about some of their history back in high school, but that was a fair while ago. ^^'

'Starting customs', I meant to ask. I'd assume that you'd been collecting Zoids for years (my first was a Blade Liger Black Impact, but I didn't start regularly collecting them until Christmas 2006 when I got my first KΓΆnig Wolf). ^,^

I haven't. But I've been studying Egypt since I was, like, ... seven, I think. o_o Maybe five. Whenever I saw it in a kids' magazine. I want to really bad. XD;

First repaint, Coldscar: [link] (lamest repaint ever) was started on... *scrounges through forum for exact date* October ninth, 2006. After painting Coldscar and Fivebrand, I stopped until I flexi'd the Gunsniper.

I don't really count the time I coloured the 'brows' on Buster Eagle with a teal sharpie. XD; That was all I did, it was before Coldscar, I don't know when that was. I did a temporary kitbash once when I had a dream, it was called Gliderfox. o_o *scrounges for that* I don't know when that was, though...

*thinks* It was at least two or three years ago, when I first moved into this house: [link] Cause it's sitting on a packing box. XD I forget about that one, because it was a temporary kitbash. I also stuck the Fury's eggbeaters on the Shadow Fox and Konig Wolf once, that was before even Gliderfox, but that was only for a day.

I have the receipt somewhere for my first zoid, a Command Wolf... That was ... hmm, let's see, I moved here in 2002, and it was before that... And the Gunsniper was shortly after that. XD; I wonder if you'd call the wolf a mod. o_o It's knob broke off on the back, so I took a screw and made a substitute knob so it could still host weapons. Would that be personalizing, or just fixing?

Ta, muchly. :3

I didn't go to the workshop in '06, I did a Diploguns there last year, and this year I did a Sabre Tiger. At the rate this goes, I might end up doing a Madthunder (assuming I find one) at a future workshop! Well, probably not (but dreaming's a good thing, no?). ^,^

I've seriously gotta come to Manifest next year!! XD At least mum's planning a Melbourne trip around the same time as Manifest... hopefully ^^

G0ggles In reply to HitokiriHimura [2008-10-06 12:00:53 +0000 UTC]

The 'bloody' part of the name had a couple of inspirations:
- William the Bloody from Buffy the Vampire Slayer because there was every chance that this custom could've turned out to be ~bloody~ awful, especially after my first experience/debacle with clear paints, which I may post up - it involved a Guntiger that I painted silver beforehand and, funnily enough, decided to use clear yellow and clear blue in a similar colour scheme to the Clear Yellow Holotech Sabre Tiger that I used for ~this~ custom (I should find out what I can use to strip the paint off and try again, now that I seem to be able to handle clear paints better now)!
- the 'Bloody Baron' from the Harry Potter series

Anyway, you definitely should try and come of Manifest next year, especially if there are more Zoids on offer to customise (although they're getting rarer by the day/month/year T.T). ^.^

p.s. I've got one more pic of STtB at [link] that I haven't uploaded here.

Ooh very interesting

Yeah
Oh, I've got news from GhostLiger/ShadowLiger that UK may be having Zoids back instore. Hasbro deal, I think. If this is happening then there might be a chance Aus will get 'em back

UK having Zoids again, eh? Were the types of Zoids mentioned? I'll have to keep an ear out for this one!

Ahh lemme see... Death Saurer, Geno Saurer, Geno Breaker, Gordos... I think that's all so far. I just want to see a Death Saurer, lol.
GhostLiger found out from her mum when she mentioned Zoids to a toystore guy.

A Bloody Deathsaurer might be tempting to have, although I currently don't have any room to have anything bigger than a quadruped the size of, say, the HMM Shieldy Mk-II I've still got to build (which is why I'm still wondering why I got PKB Giggles despite it being only $65)... ^^'

HitokiriHimura In reply to G0ggles [2008-10-07 11:28:17 +0000 UTC]

I want a Death Saurer D:
Lol, I haven't got much more room at the moment, been trying to find a good shelf that'd accommodate all sizes of Zoids But despite that, I grab the ones I want when I have the chance to get 'em.
65 buxs for a PKB Giggles... I've got a Republican Giggles for 35 :3

G0ggles In reply to HitokiriHimura [2008-10-07 11:59:50 +0000 UTC]

I wish I had room for a shelf in my bedroom; will yours be enclosed to keep the dust out?

$35's not bad for a Giggles at all; did that include shipping costs (mine was $65 from the local anime store)?

HitokiriHimura In reply to G0ggles [2008-10-07 12:50:37 +0000 UTC]

I'm hoping to get some sort of display cabinet otherwise I might mod the shelf I get to have glass doors or something

Naw, I've got it off another guy. At the moment ~vegah2 is holding onto the Zoids he's got off ~AussieDemon for me. Just yet to travel up to Sydney to pick 'em up. (I've got Giggles and Bone Geno Saurer). The guy's still got some Zoids left such as Geno Breaker, etc. (I've ordered Red Energy Liger and Death Stinger off him )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

G0ggles In reply to HitokiriHimura [2008-10-07 13:11:15 +0000 UTC]

Lots of Zoids is lots. @.@

It could well be cheaper to modify your own shelf to include a windowed/glass door (I'm sure most hardware stores would be able to help with the right materials).

How long does it take to get to Sydney from where you are?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HitokiriHimura In reply to G0ggles [2008-10-07 13:23:38 +0000 UTC]

Ya O.o

Yeah, probably. I shall have to check it out

Ahhh... by drive, it's 1 1/2 hours. By train, 2 hours the most (that's from Gong to Hurstville)... I think. I can't travel to Syd often because of work and other things
