Description
was interested in seeing some more Harry shots of Val for visitsilenthill.com, so I decided to make that my next priority! I looked through my shots and realized that most of them were taken outdoors in good lighting (so that our costumes would actually show up and the shots wouldn't be blurry). Then I remembered how awesome 's idea about putting the costumes into the actual game was and decided to do that. Huge thanks to her tutorial, as I learned how to use the eraser tool and implemented it in this picture
I will probably make use of that a lot in the future hehe.This room is of course from Alchemilla Hospital. I think I will try to find some good ones to put me as Lisa in since I only got a few at the actual hospital before leaving. This was a fun edit, pretty easy since I had to make Val so tiny that any sloppiness on my part isn't too visible.
The background picture is property of Konami of course, and I give credit to [link] for capturing the screenshot used in this picture. The title is from the SH 1 OST.
Harry is I miss him already...but I hear he made it safely to Japan so that makes me extremely happy.
Vest (made) and hair (styled) are my work, Val put together the rest of his outfit.

Samael is so tough IMO, even on easy I always am like "wow I just unloaded all the ammo from the whole game, is he dead yet!?"

Haha, exactly! It's so frightening how weak just one of his lightning bolts are, but because he shoots so many at you at once, he'll rape your corpse in an instance! D: I had to keep healing every other second with all my health kits and ampoules I saved, and just use all my rifle ammo until the fucker croaked... So cool! *w*

In Photoshop, the way to do it is this:
Filter > Pixelate >
Color Halftone, for a newspaper print look
Crystalize, for an angular polygon color look
Facet to generalize colors
Fragment to double the image around a bit (makes a dizzy, double vision effect)
Mezzotint will turn a lot of colors white. Weird.
Mosaic for a blocky, censored look
Pointilize approximates colors in dots, as the name implies
The best way to find what you're looking for is to experiment a bunch. I would suggest trying Facet with a very large image to work with and then go from there. Adding noise mostly just adds in similar colors as pixels, making it look film grain-ey but not quite low res. Alternatively, you could try saving an extra image at a small size and low resolution and then expand it again.

Oh those are both great suggestions! Many thanks, I will look into whether or not I have these options in gimp...I know there are filters, I just need to play with them like you said. I wish my little netbook could handle photoshop! I may install it on my boyfriend's desktop to see these specific effects, after all I could just open the picture on that computer and tweak Harry. Thanks again!
