So what's being depicted here is Megan Icarus's (Ghost Creep's civilian name) kidnapping when she was a teenager (about 17-18).
She was stalked for a few months leading up to her abduction -- by her best friend's uncle
She was held hostage and used to extort her parents and the police for money in exchange for her safe return.

However, Megan's relationship with her parents was never great -- so they believed the kidnapping to be a stunt pulled by Megan for attention and that she was holed up with some girl
That is...until this polaroid was left on their doorstep.

Megan had been missing for only a few hours and her abductor had already maimed her. The clock was ticking.
After almost a full day had passed of searching and tense deliberation with the police and the man who had taken Megan -- her location was tracked and a swat team intercepted her. They engaged in a shootout when authorities arrived on scene and the man was gunned down in a heartbeat.
In only a day, Megan had been severely burned -- her left eye had been scooped out with a knife. She was near death when help arrived.

After the extremely traumatic experience, Megan became an Agoraphobe -- she developed intense social anxiety and paranoia and went mute for a whole year.
