Description Cloud Gate aka The Bean
Millennium Park, Chicago, IL.

So me and my friends went for a trip up to Chi. It as one of my friends birthdays so we went up there to have some fun and eat at Ed Debevics, really interesting restaurant. I didn't do a whole lot of shooting, I'll leave that for a warmer day and when I can go by myself and spend several hours up there running around the city taking pics.

This is a shot of the Bean, true name "Cloud Gate". It's this huge mirror finish sculpture of a bean shapped figure, reflecting the downtown skyline and clouds above. It's a really cool site to see. A lot of people take pictures of this sculpture which makes most shots "cliche". I went for a more original shot and played with the flash a little to get the interesting lighting effects. I think it turned out really well and I think it's a fun abstract to look at.

EDIT(12/27/2010): Whoa, woke up this morning to a nice surprise, Daily Deviation Thanks to for suggesting me and for featuring

most of them are me. you can see my flash better on one side because i pointed it to that side. It made a better effect than when I had it pointed straight forward.

Definately interesting A huge shiny bean?

It's a lot abstract and interesting to look at, for sure. I don't know about cliche because I've never seen any shots of this sculpture or even know why someone would sculpt a huge shiny bean...

It's good that you're looking for new ways to express a, maybe tired, subject. I like it!

it's in millennium park in chicago, a major tourist destination. The entire park is based on art, they have other interesting sculpture are and a really neat looking outdoor auditorium thing. It runs along Michigan Ave. which is a one of the most known streets in Chi because of all the high dollar shopping it has to offer. It's a really neat place to go right next to the downtown area, and they have ice skating in the winter there also, right next to the bean. If you ever venture to Chicago you should def. check it out. This picture is from the underside of the bean. It's been featured in photo magazines (can't remember which) and I've seen a lot of it, but that's probably because I live so close to the city.
