Jenna sat in her soft bed feeling slightly uncomfortable. She could hear Rosie in the other room begging to see her new puppies. Puppies she never really wanted. Her owner, Rosie’s father was offered a large sum of money to breed her with Steele. He accepted. Now here she was with five new children of her own. Jenna glared at her pups. Why couldn’t she be with Balto? He saved Nome! Surely his pups would be better!

Steele was nothing but a liar! On the spur of the moment Jenna felt tussling around her abdomen. It was the tiniest pup. Kitka. Jenna felt sorry for the runt surely Steele would not be pleased with her however the other four were strong and healthy. The strongest was a male she named Storm. Jenna licked her sons head and sighed.

“I’m so sorry Balto” Jenna said tears slipping down her cheek. Just then she felt a nuzzle. It was her youngest daughter Speed. The newborn nestled into Jenna’s arm in almost an attempt to comfort her crying mother. Jenna couldn’t help but cry a little more. Speed’s puppy fur was matted and very feathery. Almost like a wolf….”no don’t think like that Steele would be livid” Jenna thought shaking her head.

“So this is them?” Jenna cowered slightly. Steele trotted happily into the room and sniffed his pups .Jenna noticed this is the happiest he’s been since the incident. “They’re so beautiful and strong, what are their names?” Steele asked “Kitka, Timber, storm, Suka, and Speed.” Steele nuzzled her gently and surprising herself Jenna nuzzled the sled dog back. Outside unbeknownst to them the wolf dog himself Balto suppressed a growl but instead just sobbed running back to his boat. Not even Jenna would accept the side of the wolf.
