Description
Most of you already know that Rosalina is a playable character in Super Mario 3D World, in addition to Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Blue Toad (I ran outta space in panel two so I decided to put Luigi in with Daisy in the last panel).
Speaking of Daisy.. wouldn't she be pretty upset/angry that Rosalina made it into the game, but she didn't? Rosalina was an interesting addition, but it seems like Nintendo wants to confine Daisy to the spin-offs. Who knows, maybe Daisy will make it into a main Mario game someday~
(SM3DW is already released in some areas btw, so I'm late xD)

Honestly, I think that Nintendo really should start looking back up to the Mario Land series. They are possibly the most underated game in the Mario series.
Why forget the Mario Land series? Sure some stuff can be forget like the strange Bomb Koopa and the Super Ball Power up considering that Fire Flower is the same thing. But why forget half of the original enemies, bosses, worlds, even Daisy herself. Wouldn't it actually be nice to at least make the desert lands inspired by Mario Land, maybe return the enemies from the Land series into the New Super series? Even better, why re-release the same Mario All stars from the SNES to the Wii with no added content, Nintendo could have added Mario Land WITH other amazing Mario games like Mario RPG and Yoshi's Island.
*sigh* someday Nintendo would finally open their eyes to see the shame they brought to Daisy, no wonder why she loves Luigi, they are bother forgotten due to their related counterparts. XP also don't get me started on the Toad character, I mean, why blue Toad and no the original Toad? Would Captain Toad and Official Toad be too confusing?

I doubt the SML style of games will return. From a few sources Gunpei Yukoi the creator of the games was very vocally negative about making those Mario games. In fact it was kindof the reason Mario Land soon became Wario Land. And given Nintendo's current treatment of Wario's games. It might be safe to say SML is definitely gone.
Which is a shame cause I do agree they are vastly underrated. But it seems Nintendo wants to give everything the NSMB formula whether it fits or not. Urgh..

Really? That's such a shame, I mean, Mario Land could have at least have the elements (enemies, bosses, ect.) Ported to the NSMB series. They could easily fit in the desert levels perfectly, Goombas and Koopas are just too stale when they reappear over and over, recalling to old enemies wouldn't hurt honestly, and I'm fine with new enemies but still.
It's also odd considering how they are able to keep Daisy, but they drop everything else.
But who knows, Nintendo is Nintendo, they are successful, but they don't seem to realize how much they're slowly getting stale. (With the Mario franchise, the Zelda series is still strong in my opinion. Kirby, DK, and Yoshi are still going well. The Wario series is replaced by Wario Ware, and who knows where Star fox or Metroid are)

I think they kept Daisy cause she was easy filler for party & sports games. Which is fine but, eh when you know that's all they're going to do with the character it's kindof hard to care further. Kindof a reason few Mario RPG characters appear outside of their respective games. I only recall Goomboss/Goomba King & the Star Spirits from Paper Mario reappearing in spinoffs once.
Zelda...honestly while I like the games imo I've found myself on auto-pilot playing them since TP. Maybe breath of the wild will change that but it feels like a game we should have gotten in the 2009-2011 timeframe. Perhaps I'm suffering from the "Familiarity breeds Contempt" scenario with Nintendo as a whole.
In regards to Metroid, Star Fox, and by extension F-Zero the problem with them is that those series have a fanbase/appeal on the USA & European side of the World than a Japanese appeal. That's the blunt truth of the matter. And they also might have more of an audience if they were available for the X-Box and PS4. I know plenty of people in those groups who talk in positive manners for those series or once loved them on the SNES, N64, & GCN but since the Wii those people left Nintendo's consoles.

That's true, they rarely show the more unique Mario characters, aside from Rosalina. It just shows they stick with the basic and just make the game basic. XP I'm ok with Dasiy and waluigi, but at least show more of the cast.
But that's not the point, my point is how Nintendo neglects most of their old material they can reuse. Such as a guy who drew a concept art for a remake of the Doki Doki Panic Mario version of the game, only with original and potential Yoshi character:

This would have been a potential idea if Nintendo had thought more about the origins of the shy guys and birdo.
Anyways, Zelda for me is quite a masterpiece at most times with several flaws but still a great game. As for the others, it's understandable considering that if they make a game the public might not be interested in, then it might not sell well no matter how well made it is.
Speaking of which, if Nintendo took more better care and chances with their other series, they wouldn't have to fill many years with Mario games. Because really, the New series are becoming stale, and they release other mediocre spin-offs
Outside of the pointless sports series (ok to be fair, I don't like any sports series as I prefer to play them in real life then in video games), there is Mario and Sonic, and Mario VS donkey Kong.

Like I said, the Bomb Koopa is defiantly something that should never return, in fact it should just disappear from the Mario World. It's just a too disturbing enemy that tells so much itself once it explodes..
And besides, the Bob-ombs are basically a better explosion type enemy, and it's a bomb anyway so of course it's meant to explode.

Oddly I think this was due to Daisy not having a main game appearance yet, so playable as her first appearance might seem off to main game only players. She first appeared in a spin-off and has been in most the spin-offs. Maybe if the next Super Mario game goes back to Sarasa Land she'll be back.

I know, Mario Land was a spin-off, not a main series title. The Mario Land series which turned into Wario Land eventually is a separate handheld only series and not part of the main console adventure series.
(hence my comment at the end if the Mario games go back to Sarasa Land...the setting of Mario Land).

Rosalina is a new character. She first appeared in the Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
She became very popular and they've been including her in games ever since.

I do love Rosalina, but if Daisy was in 3D World, I'd assume she would be a mix of Peach and Toad. She would run faster than anyone else and glide like Peach.
