It's interesting to see that whatever virus is causing Dethla to mutate uncontrollably is also effecting Godzilla.

Some sort of parasitic effect due to being in contact. In order for Deathla to become perfect, a host is required. Godzilla's condition could also be part of his failed efforts to completely absorb Godzilla due to the extreme levels of power.

In this scenario definitely. The red patches on Godzilla chest could be the result of Deathla's parasitic effects. Deathla could be very well be attempting to make Godzilla his next host but in an incomplete state due to Godzilla's high levels of power.

if you look up Final War there's concept art for what Godzilla was planned to look like. He had a bright red chest like this for some reason
