Welcome

Sorry, I kind of sick of Shin Godzilla. Not because you draw him, but I just feel he's a bit overexposed and I just not a big fan of the overall design. There are stuff I like, but I think some features could be removed.

Again, no offense to you, Gabe. You do awesome work, and you can draw what you want. But, still, it's not my favorite Godzilla design.

The over exposure is kind of to be expected to be honest. After all this is infact Toho's first domestic Godzilla film in over 12 years. So there is a reason for why it is getting so much attention. A bit over? Possibly yes.

As for the design? It is pretty much a mixed bag in the fandom. Some people love it, and some people hate it. In fact the love/hate ratio of this design is quite equal. Personally in my opinion for the tone of the film, it's spot on but it to be the face of Godzilla as a whole? Absolutely not. It's jusy way too grotesque. However I do understand where you're coming from, but at the same time this film strikes Japan more deeply than the general public here in the States.

Also you don't have to comment on all my Shin'Gojira art if the design itself bugging you that much. Your not obligated to do so.

Thanks for understanding my feelings about the design. i have yet to see the movie, as I'm just waiting for the official DVD release, so who knows, my views might change afterwards. I do hope I will enjoy the film, though. There are things I do like about the design for Shin Goji, but as I said, I just feel it's a bit overexposed. Plus, I get kind of tired of the whole "this version of Godzilla vs. this other version" thing that goes on, as I feel all Godzilla's have their strength and weaknesses. Like the GMK design, I actually prefer seeing the artist interpretation over the actual suit, which looks like Godzilla needed to go on Weight Watchers and a chiropractor, though I'm not a big fan of that film anyway.

I will still fave your artwork with Shin Goji, but I might lay back on the comments a bit. Really, it always seems like I'm just putting "this is awesome" all the time. Granted, I might rethink this and still post comments.

Not a problem. Yeah I don't understand why people are really comparing legendary Godzilla to Shin Gojira. In my mind it's pretty stupid and pointless to compare completely different films. This whole Vs. thing is just annoying. Not saying that having two Godzillas face off in the fandom is necessarily a bad thing however, when I'm constantly seeing *Legendary Godzilla is better, or *Shin'Gojira is the best, and America's version is sh##t . That's where I get pretty freaken irritated. But like all fandoms, the Godzilla community is a bipolar one for sure. So I definitely agree with you there. Each version is definitely, and should be appreciated as such. Like I said before the exposure does have some reason behind it. But it is definitely a bit overwhelming.

As for the movie? It is indeed a very definitive Godzilla, but It doesn't fully live up to the hype it's getting but that's just me. Great film, possibly one of the best, but not to be over hyped.

In all honesty the real reason why I like the design so much is because I'm quite a fan of the macabre/horror genre. So seeing a macabrezilla is quite the eye-catching. But that's just part of my personal tastes.

Well, I'm not a horror/macabre type of guy, so that might be one of the reasons that I don't really feel 100% about this design. Granted, I do like the design, to a point, but you already know how I feel, so I won't repeat myself.

I still think the humanoid thing is a bit forced.

Nice. I love seeing roughs since I'm such a process junkie.
That last shot of the movie is so haunting.
