Overall it's ok, but there are quite a few things you could do to improve.
1. The shading of the character needs more detail. You could use dodge/burn to add shadow and light, and make him look more 3D.
2. In my opinion the outlines of the character are far too thick, though you may disagree.
3. It looks like you used plain gradients for some of the background, which isn't that attractive.
4. The anti-aliasing is lacking on some parts. Also, some outlines have a tiny white margin. I'm not sure if you used multiple transparent layers for this, but if you didn't, I'd suggest you do. Also, the GIMP may be better than Pixia for this style of art. Try it, it's free!

No! Thanks for the crit, I really need it. Noone every gives me any criticism for my art, which isn't really that helpful!
I know that I suck at shading, but I'm trying! I'm very new to shading etc. I have have GIMP, I did the bg on it. I'll use it next time to do the whole thing

I was going to try and get the white bits off the edge of the sword, but I didn't have much time to finish it, so I had to rush it >.< hmmmm.. is it the right leg that is off?? Its supposed to be his thigh, but it just looks wrong

awesome. i love the pose, and the jacket.
spend a liiiiiiitle bit more tiem finishing it up (like what kricky said about teh sword) and itd look even cooler
