Description

"Place of power. It's gotta be"

I am still heartbroken by what Netflix has done, so I thought I will remind myself of how great the games are, this specifically is inspired by the third game. I absolutely love the Witcher books, while watching the Netflix show it felt like they didnt even read them or they just dont care about them. For all the talks about how they are trying to honor them I just cannot comprehend it. The only positives I can say about the show is the main cast, soundtrack and 2 fighting sequences (Blaviken and Cintra).

Anyway I hope you will like the picture.

Dobrý je to jako sviňa. Má to kulerovucí amtoféru, moc hezké barevně. Palec hore.

Admittedly it has been several years since I read any of the books but I was positively surprised how the show adapted something that was basically just a bunch of short stories into a more or less cohesive storyline. Don't get me wrong, I loved the books, but it doesn't always make sense to make a 1 on 1 adaption.
I remember that I also hated GoT for changing tiny details from the books while everyone else loved the show, so I get your feelings about it. What I'm saying is that if you put some distance between the book and the show you might be able to appreciate the latter a little more.
The picture is fantastic of course!

heartbroken? You think its that bad?

I liked it - it took a few episodes for it to grow on me, but in the end I can see that Cavill is a perfect Gerald. IF anything the show just needs a higher fx budget and a new costume destigner for next season

I blame low budget. imitating the dwarves of the games would be pretty much impossible without CG or very fancy costume rigs, because there aren't any normal people who look like that.

Same for locations and whatnot. And I'm guessing they simplified Ciri's origin to make it easier for people who weren't familiar with the games or the books.

My main beef with the show is the nilfgard armor - its hilariously bad, like wrinkly-ball-sack bad - but that was apparently intentional by the costume designer who wanted to make some kind of point. IIRC then rumor has it she's being replaced for season 2. The elves were... superficially ok - I can accept humans with ears - but that so many of them were black? The story is supposed to take place in 1200 fantasy poland. That confused me a lot, threw me out of the immersion a lot whenever they were on.

Low budget can influence what the script-writers think they can get away with showing

but ya - lets see if they can't make it better in season 2, now that its gotten fairly popular
