I made these for my little Gaia shop I've yet to open and thought I might as well let you see. I still love the grayscaled world the best no matter how much better I get with color. >_<Related content

If there's one thing that I find hard to do, is use completely different colors for highlights, like purple for skintone. It looks sooo vibrant, and makes it stand out a lot.

Practice... and hours of frustration. It's hard, because if it's not light enough as a highlight it looks really weird but the lighter you go, the less you color you can get before you hit white. And color isnβt my friend, that too.

Oh man that is so neat! XD This pic rocks! I love seeing the comparison from lineart to grayscale to color, its really cool! Those two characters look awesome! I love how you did the purple lighting on the top character's skin, that came out so beautiful! <3 this whole thing!

I love the scarf silky cloth thingy on the girl's shoulder. And the purply highlights on the demon guy's skin.

I love grayscale the most too, I still perfer it over color anyday...

It's not crazy... much >_> XD I think six would do it really, right? A light, a medium, and a dark in both cool and warm gray so you can build the other inbetween shades if you need it like with graphite... but building can be a pain so go for the easy ready made shades. XD
I'm not that busy on Gaia, mostly because I'm keeping a low profile for now. Once I have time to devote to a shop I'm going to make sure my prices are high enough so that I likely won't be too busy at that. XD

Exactly what I think, building is such a pain DX
Now I have warm and cool grays in my posession so I get to do a lot of coloring, but i'd still rather do it on the computer. I wish I had comic works, though it might be a pain to try and work out, but that's okay...I'll just cheat when using tones and throw them into photoshop...for now ^^

wow these are really nice. i iike that you show lineart, grayscale, and then color of the same character and same pose. it really gives a nice picture of things.
you should do something with your great character design skills! I'm always so interested by the characters you draw... did you ever think of writing a story or doing a comic?

You know, when I first started up drawing that was the reason, I wanted to be a manga artist... than I realized I sucked at just about everything oriented with manga and decided I should probably learn how to draw first. XD I dunno, life seems to be taking me in a different direction at the moment and I'm happy with it, but I still get ideas that I jot down thinking 'that would make a interesting manga.' If I ever do anything with it, only time will tell. It would be nice to create a story combining my love of art and writing, probably an ideal in a way, but there's a lot I need to learn first. Hey, but I have my whole life to figure it out. <3
