Description "Quick" watercolor painting done for my AP Portfolio. Everyone told me that the style looked just like a storybook illustration because of the way I painted it. I like to think that it does, too, just to make myself feel cool. 8)

It's an old man walking through a mountainous valley carrying a city from his back. This is a symbolic piece, so feel free to analyze the symbols I put into the artwork.

My sister, ~babygomamon, told me that the idea reminded her of Atlas, the god who carries the world on his shoulders. And I thought, yeah, it kind of does. Except this guy is old and decrepit instead of big and burly, and only has a city compared to the world. But beyond that, her statement made me think about the title, so I called the old man "Salta," which, obviously, is Atlas backwards.

Ever since Andrew called him Oedipus that is who I immediately think of when I see it. XD
Oh, and Atlas wasn't a god. 'Twas a Titan. But that's ok. I guess...

Titan. God. Deity. All the same things. People know what I'm talking about.
And Andrew ruins everything. Oedipus?! What the heck, man. I have no idea where he got Rexipus from, old cheesy man walking up a hill. *w*;;;

Titans where deity-ish. Immortal at least. They were god-like. Minus the whole negative connotation, and mostly being imprisoned or tortured by the order or actions of Zeus. But I guess you can say god...

Me neither.
But you know how it is.
The most outrageous things are the ones that stick out most.
'Tis why I'm stuck on that.

Wonderful As your sister said it probably could do to be darker in the foreground but it still looks great.

It does look very much like a storybook illustration, and watercolor is a very common illustration medium. It would be a good way to make money on the side. XD

It's really good, I love the composition. I do think that the colors in the foreground could be a little more saturated, though.
