Nah, I'm thinking that Captain Falcon knows he has a gun, and just doesn't use it because, as Joker proves, Guns don't knock people away that much, and this is Smash Bros, where the goal is to knock the opponents off the stage (hence why Snake only brought a TON OF EXPLOSIVES and didn't bring any guns.
