Description
Thunder roared in the background and sheets of rain pounded against the earth and the trees, turning the ground into slick mud. However, the weather was the least of Laura’s problems.
The orange rabbit, trapped in a tightly strapped straitjacket with no other clothing other than a white pair of panties, was rushing through the thick foliage of the forest. She could barely see a thing, with it being the middle of the night and the rain going right into her eyes, the trees above her taking up what little moonlight there was and causing the ground to be almost pitch black.
The only lights around were those from the asylum staff, their flashlights swinging back and forth, sweeping the area, trying to find the rabbit. It did give Laura an idea of what places to avoid, but it still meant she was blind. Walking around in the dark. In the distance, she could see the asylum. Tall and menacing, casting a malicious shadow on everything it touched.
The only sounds were the near constant clatter of rain, the screeching sirens of the asylum’s alarm, and the conversation between the guards. Her heart would always nearly stop when a guard yelled “Over here!” only to find that nobody had yet found her.
She moved at as quick a pace as she could, while trying to stay cautious. Running without her arms to balance her was an awful idea and would likely lead to her capture, but she couldn’t simply waltz around the forest. The rabbit had to be quick.
However, Laura got overzealous. In her need to escape, she managed to trip over a tree root and land in a bush, causing it to rustle.
“What’s that?” One of the guards shouted.
Laura curled into a ball, trying to conceal herself as she saw flashlights approaching. This was it. This was how she’d be captured. The rabbit closed her eyes tightly, praying she would not be found. Her whole body tense with anticipation…
She waited…
And waited…
And waited…
Until exhaustion had caught up to her… And she passed out…
…
Laura woke up, but she was surprised to find where she was.
She was still in the bush. Out in the wilderness.
When Laura had passed out, she was certain she would wake up in that god-forsaken padded cell. And yet, here she was.
The rabbit poked her head from the bush, looking around. It was cold but clear morning. The storms had seemed to pass, and there was not a cloud in the sky. Sure, her legs were a bit cold at the moment, but that was the least of her concerns. She was finally out of the asylum.
Laura looked around her, only to make sure no guards were nearby. The rabbit couldn’t help but have a giddy, dorky smile on her face as she started to cry. Not tears of boredom or sadness like those had in the padded room, but real, genuine tears of joy.
She still had work to do. She stepped from the bush, and started to make her treck in a random direction.
The rabbit had forgotten where civilization was, but that didn’t matter. If she walked in one direction, she’d find it.
It felt so nice to see something other than the same off-white padding of the cell. To breathe air from outside the asylum. To feel rain on her skin. The ground was still muddy, and while she couldn’t see it, she knew she probably looked filthy at the moment. With mud covering her feet and splotched on her face and outfit. But it didn’t matter.
…
Laura’s trek through the wilderness was not an easy one. She neglected to eat dinner the previous night, and hadn’t eaten anything for about 12 hours. But luckily, she found a blueberry bush. Being unable to use her arms for anything, she instead leaned forward and ate them straight off the bush like an animal.
She also stopped by a flowing lake. Dehydrated, she leaned forward and started to lap up the water. She got a look at herself in the water. Her face was stained with mud and blueberry juice, everything she wore covered in splotches of mud, her hair a complete mess. She laughed a little, seeing the wild savage version of herself in the pond. The rabbit leaned down for another drink, when a deer crossed by and did the same. She couldn’t help but laugh, as the two of them were now effectively on even ground.
…
The sun hung high in the sky as she kept walking. If she had to estimate, it was around noon. It had been the first time in forever she had a sense of what time it was, ever since the asylum had taken that right from her. As she slowly made her way through the forest, she saw something through the trees… A structure of sorts. Something not of the forest. A house… Several of them!
Laura was overtaken with excitement as she started to sprint towards the houses. She couldn’t believe it! She was going home! Once again, tears of joy flowed freely as she ran towards them. As she approached, she started to note… These were houses she knew. Her neighborhood!
She snuck through a few fences and made it to the main street. A straitjacketed savage, looking like she was from a more primitive era, in the middle of the suburbs. She looked around with a giddy look on her face. Laura eventually found the house of a friend.
The rabbit walked up, leaning forward and poking the door bell with her nose.
The door opened… Whatever happened next, it didn’t matter. If she was judged for her appearance or rejected by her friend… It didn’t matter.
She was free.

To be honest, this might be the stopping point of the "series", if you can even call it that.
However, I am *bound* to make some other stories along the way. c;
