Funnily enough, Muse (the character pictured above)'s biology - if you can call it that - is somewhere halfway between organic and cybernetic, so it's really hard to define as 'mass of living cells' or 'machine'. The title is surprisingly fitting that way.

So does that explain the random whiskers and the fact that they're bipedal or is that completely unrelated to the cybernetics and shit?

Honestly? No idea. What I do know for a fact is that their very existence tends to defy a lot of universe's rules (for example, being bipedal with such strange anatomy and having whiskers in the same places as cats), but they don't particularly care because rules are boring.
