Part 5: First Encounter

Amy had hid herself in the maze-like garden outside the manor, curled up in a ball, not wanting anyone to see her. Why? It had been going so well. She had finally started to be able to make a friend, and then someone—not just anyone, but the faction assistant of Lochesh himself—had to ruin it for her. Why did things always turn out this way? She wished her mom never forced her to come here.

She could also hear Dakota coming from behind her, and quickly turned her head around to meet her.

Dakota ran around a few corners, going through the maze like it was no problem. She could hear Amy's crying from so far off, it was like she had some kinda super hearing... nah. She could hear her crying from a distance. When she finally found the young girl, Dakota panted and rested on her knees for a moment. Finally turning towards Amy, she said, "Geez... ya run pretty quick for a girl yer age. You okay?"

Amy rubbed her eyes. "...I...I hope so. At least it wasn't anything trying to eat me, but...well...he still scared me. I just really, really, really hate ghosts and scary stuff, and that's the other reason I didn't want to go here, because Lochesh is FULL of them! And I HATE it that Mom is now going to think that it's okay to be mean to me and drag me to all these places I don't want to go to..."

Dakota sighed and walked up to the girl, holding her hand out to help her to her feet. She smiled warmly, hoping to start over without the dumbness of Gabriel stinking up the place.

"At least yer mom knows what's best. The only one that really pushes me to go anywhere is Medallion." Of which, the Ampharos had just caught up with the two, panting a bit and realizing that Dakota found Amy.

As soon as Amy got to her feet, though, she hesitated, tugging on Dakota's hand. "...Wait, where are we going? We're not going back there, are we? What if he comes back?"

Dakota groaned slightly and rolled her eyes, "Ya know if we don't, either Lyra or yer mother's gonna try and find you. I tried to sneak out earlier, but I failed that miserably. Let's just go back inside. Won't be too much longer til the party's over."

"R—right..." She gulped. "Just...give me a second, okay? I'm still sort of freaked out about that whole thing. Don't want them to see my like this, after all..."

"Well, alright. Medallion, I guess you could stick around, I'm gonna go back inside and give a nice talk to Gabriel..." She had that grin on her face, of which Medallion knew she was up to no good. He sighed and stood beside the young girl, rubbing the back of his neck as if he was a bit nervous to even try and speak with her.

Amy looked up in surprise as Dakota left with that grin on her face before turning to the Ampharos beside her. "...Did she just say she was going to 'give a nice talk' to Gabriel...?" she asked, pointing to the space where Dakota just left.

Realizing that the girl could understand him, considering she just asked him a question like that, he just attempted to speak, rubbing the back of his head nervously.

"Aye... nice... really isn't the word for it." The expression on his face pretty much told her that Dakota was going to lash out at Gabriel for being the weirdo he was. That's just like Dakota. A loud mouth, but also the words that came out... weren't really so nice sometimes.

Amy actually smiled at this news. "I gotcha. I was hoping someone would help make him go away. At least she's nice to me, right, Medallion?"

Medallion blinked. So she could understand him! Well, that gave him a bit of relief.

"Aye, lass. She's quite the character when up against children your age. I—In a good way, that is." He chuckled.

Amy chuckled too, feeling considerably better. "Oh man, tell me about it. My classmates? SO rude. Then again, it's not like getting along with older people is easy either, but at least Dakota's easier to handle than a lot of them."

She then stood up. "Okay, I think I'm better now. Let's go back."

Suddenly...

She felt a strange sensation grip at her body, preventing her from moving any muscles. Except for her head, which she used to look behind her to figure out what was going on...

And saw what could only be described as a giant flying saucer behind her in the sky. The strange pattern and symbols on it were all she needed to see to realize that it was an alien spaceship.

The only 'alien' in sight, however, was a certain female Elgyem with a gold necklace around her neck, with a distinctive diamond-shaped pink jewel embedded in it. Judging by how her sinister, beady green eyes glowed and the way she was holding up her three-fingered traffic light-colored hand, though, it was clear that she was the one behind Amy's sudden stasis.

She quickly whipped her head back, shouting, "MEDALLION—!" before suddenly being silenced by the Elgyem, whose strange psychic powers sealed her mouth shut and lifted her up off the ground.

Medallion smiled and began to turn away from her, about to head back into the manor. Although, when he noticed that she couldn't move, he turned his head back to hear her shouting his name before she was lifted off the ground. Medallion gasped and spotted the Elgyem responsible for grabbing a hold of Amy, running after her with a leap of faith.

Unfortunately for Medallion, when he attempted to jump to grab a hold of her, they were too far off the ground for him to reach.

"Ah!" He shouted, landing on his feet with a bit of a stumble. "A—Amy! Don't worry, lass. I'm coming for ya!"

He had to think quick. Remembering that a certain Golurk was perched somewhere around the manor, he had to find a way to get him to help the young girl in need.

"Heh. That's right, coward. Don't meddle in affairs that have nothing to do with you," gloated the Elgyem as she launched a squirming Amy into the center hatch of the ship before following closely thereafter. "Boss-Man! Time to go ditch this planet and head on home."

The Ampharos dashed off in the opposite direction, heading through the garden to find the large Golurk in the spot he would expect him to be. Once he found him, he shouted out, "Mate! I need your help! Amy's just been taken by an Elgyem and tossed her into their ship. I cannot reach them!"

The Golurk's eyes, however, were already red, and looked toward the place in the sky where the flying saucer was already rapidly disappearing to. "I am aware. Master Neena gave me direct orders to maintain Master Amy's safety, and I am not about to fail her."

His legs suddenly became rockets, blasting out a bunch of fuel as he hovered above the ground. "If you wish to assist me, then hop on," he said as he held out his hand for the smaller Ampharos to use in order to do so.

Medallion made haste as he jumped onto the large hand and onto the shoulder of the Golurk. He held on the best he could, knowing he was in for a ride.

"And I will not allow her to be taken after my orders to stay with her... let's go, mate!"

With that, the Golurk sped into the night sky, hot in pursuit of the quickly-fleeing spaceship.

Haha, don't forget about this story, too! This was the quickest piece for me to color, and now you get to see meaning of the title of the first chapter, in a sense. Of course, the picture doesn't necessarily *match* the events in the prose anymore since now Farina just grabs Amy and flies without batting too much of an eye at Medallion, but I had this image in my head ever since I thought of the chapter, so I wanted it to be drawn! XD

Part 5: First Encounter
