Chapter 3: It's the Scream! HELP!<[link] >
Trying to paint the background so that you can actually tell what each object is without any lines surrounding it is SOOOOOO hard!
...At least, that was what I thought when I first tried it.
It's just one of these things where the more you practice at it, the better you become. It also helps if you have photo reference and/or have a very good sense of where lights and shadows lie. But I work hard at it because all of the great Disney animated films use that painted technique for all of their environments. That awe-inspiring effect, which invites people to experience the beauty of the natural world in a whole new way, is something I want to master for a lot of my art, especially for Galactic Rainbow.
And I know it's ridiculous to think that the Pokemon inhabitants of primitive outer-rim Planet Portania have beds that are remotely similar to our own, so I had to make it look primitive yet comfortable at the same time. See, when making a fantasy world, set rules that make sense for it and follow them no matter what. I once thought of making a house for a Kirlia and her family, and my brother once suggested to place an Xbox 360 in it. Sorry, but that's just too anachronistic. I DON'T CARE HOW BADLY YOU WANT ONE, POKEMON JUST DON'T HAVE XBOX 360'S!
I hate thunder, too. Especially when a lightning bolt hits within, like, 20 feet of my house. It is so loud, it blasts the silly out of my eardrums.

*shudder* I know how Amy feels. I like to watch lightning indoors, but when I'm in a car or in an area that isn't protected. I'm a mess.

Hmm, it looks like your rules for a fantasy world are the same as mine with crossovers. They have to have things that make it feel like it really could happen in both worlds.

It helps give stories some sense of grounding logic, for sure.

Nah, she's just used to thunderstorms. Sharpedo Bluff provides one with an EXCELLENT view of them.
