How do adoptables work?

Oh boy...i'm probably the worse person to be asking this...I'm not that good at explaining things... ;u;'
But...basically, you create a design on a character,or you could pick up a pairing and create a design based on the designs of the characters of the pairingΒ Β (like I did with MLP ponies on this image)Β and then you "sell" them with an good price. Here on DeviantArt, points are way of buying/seeling adoptables, But if you have an Paypal account or anything like that, you could sell for real money too. But not everyone have acess to do that, so, the points are the best option. With points, you can upgrade you DA account and even buy adoptables from other people.
WHAT exactly your adoptable is going to be, is up to you. You want to make it an person,an pony, an cat, an dog, you do it! Take inspirations on food or animals that already exist in the world, colors, random themes, to create your designs !All is up to you! Unique designs are really appreciated, along the more "complex" designs. People LOVE to see designs that they haven't seen before, or with something unique that can catch their eyes! For example, if you do a MLP adopt, don't just make a random mane and color the pony body, add something! use more than one color! Create unique mane styles for that pony! Add acessories! Anything that looks good with everything else, and that will catch peoples eyes!
You can use bases to make the adoptables if you want, but ALWAYS make sure to credit the base owner and to see if the owner allows you to use their base to do adoptables (some people don't like others using their bases to selling proposes, so you gotta watch out for that), if you have the bases saved on your computer, try to have the link to the original base also saved somewhere on your computer, or maybe favorite it, so you ca always have a quick way to get the owner their well deserved credit! Or if you want, create the adoptable by zero, drawing all by yourself! The most important thing, is creating the adoptable design yourself! You can take some inspirations from others, but NEVER just steal someone else designs, this is wrong, not to mention unfair to the person who did said design, and to the person who bought the adoptable with the design from the original owner.
The price of the adoptable is also up to you, but make sure to not to it too high. For example, a simple adoptable have a simple price, adoptables using bases usually aren't THAT expansive if they don't have anything special on them. If you draw it all by yourself and the design is rather complex, then you can have the price a little high. But again, is all up to you. Making the prices accessible if you are just starting with adoptables is a good thing. Get people to know your adoptables before going with high prices. If a design take a lot of time and effort to become true, than you can ask for a little more, and if you see the adoptable isn't selling, you can low down the price a little bit every time, until you are able to sell it, or is in a considerable not-so-high price. Having your adoptables on groups thatΒ specializeΒ on them is also a good way to sell them, get more people attention and all, So, searching and joining for groups like those are also a good idea!Β

if you are really good at drawing,you can also make commissions or customs,where people will ask you to do something for them that they want,and they will pay you with points. :3

If you want people t adopt them,maybe you should try to send them to MLP adoptables groups,and stuff like that,where people will saw them without you needing to go around in people comments like this ^^ If people don't seem to be liking them,just go and try to improve your "Adoptables skills" ,try out your desings! Do the best work you can! <3 But obviously,try something original,don't go and do like,desings that some other people already did..
