I don't know why. Oh, and I think you all get the message of the picture. And I'm just saying that's my OPINION - mine and half of Earth's population's. If you're part of the other half, I suggest you just leave without a word. Don't wanna make you mad. Oh, and this picture is mainly for the club .Last: Sorry I've been kinda out of it for a few days. I'm not sure what happened. Mood swings, probably. I'm only fourteen.
Well, I'm happy again, and that's all there is to it!The majority of this, believe it or not, was done with MS Paint. Only a very few things (Dib's skintone while inside the pod, the shadows and lighting on the wall and floor) were made with the help of Open Canvas. That's probably why the backgrounds suck. Oh, and this picture could also be a wallpaper! ^_^

This took me a moment to get, but is the person Nny has to the wall Edgar? That guy everyone has him paired with? (And god, I find Nny slash horribly scary.. ZADR I'm not truly a fan of, but I do like some of the art work..But it's not as though I drool over it or anything.) So is the message that they're not supposed to be in love, and just leave it at that? Don't mess with how things are written?

Um... in issue seven, Jimmy came to Nny's house saying he was a "fan". He totally idolized Johnny and all, was dressed like him, etc. He started talking about his plans and shit. Nny killed him, with the explanation: "I don't like myself much".

Oh yeah... Issue seven is the only one I havn't gotten to read, yet >.< But I did see a couple scans from that from a good Johnny website (plus from a flash animation music type video on Newgrounds)

OH GOD YES to the Nth power. They hate each other, the very notion of any romance between said parties here is INSANE INSANE INSANE beyond all imagining. Exactly what part of "unrelenting hatred" do so many people not get??

MS Paint? Can't you basically just do pixelated things? I really would like to know how you got gradients and smooth lines with it...

There's two ways to get rid of the pixely look with MS Paint.
1. Zoom in and use different shades of grey to blend the lines into the background and stuff. Takes a million years to finish. Way I used to do it.
2. Draw the picture REALLY REALLY big, and then use a nifty program to blur it an itty bitty bit, and resize it and make it small (I use Lexmark Photo Editor).
Either way works. For this picture, I used the second way. In fact, I haven't used the first technique since that picture of Lin annoying Zim . . . that took a long time to finish . . .
As for the color blending, that takes a long time no matter what you do. You have to double click on a color and use the numbers in those little boxes to slightly make it lighter and lighter . . . or darker and darker. Every time you change the number by one or two, you add a pixel line. I . . . um, this sounds confusing, doesn't it? It's kinda hard to explain.

I really like the composition of this! Especially Johnny's paddle-ball thing. 9.9 That's...so very 'Nny. Personally, I agree with the sentiment here, too--though I'm all 'live and let live' about trends in the fandom (which I have to be lest I get flamed myself for being weird!), my opinion is right in line with yours. At any rate, great coloring and overall effect. ^-^

I wonder if most of the people who think gays will be be offended are straight. I'm quite lesbian and am not in the least offended. I love this pic XD! I'm still a newbie to the world of Jhonen Vasquez so I don't know where I stand on the matter of pairings, but I think the art is so lovely. The IZ/JTHM styles are immense pains to imitate >.<
I understand from where some of the anti-slash opinions come; if there was a character that was very obviously gay, the fans (like me) wouldn't be too pleased if their favourite gay was written as a straight character. I know I'm a proud fan of slash when it's reasonable; but I never could adapt to it in Star Wars, DBZ, or Gundam Wing. Some things just weren't meant to be slashed. ^^

You have a right to your opinion, but the question "Don't try to change it" begs is simply this: What do you think hate changes? Slash in the JV fandom is really improbable most of the time, but does that mean that you should campaign against it? I hate Marry Sues, but do you see me picketing over it? No. I could tell you "If you don't like it, you don't have to read it/view it," but then you'd tell me the same thing for commenting on this. I guess my point is you could paint Hitler dancing amoungst daisies for all it matters in this world. People get upset. And if you want to hate slash, that's fine. To me, that just comes off being anti-homosexual, but again, you have just as much right to put this up as a slasher has to post gay fanart.
Just realize that when you do this, people are offended. Yeah, people are offended by slash, but anti-gay matterial upsets gay people on a personal level. You say, "This is wrong, slash is wrong, don't mess with the cannon" but other things get read into it, and people get genuinely upset.
No, I'm not flaming you. I like the way you drew Johnny and Jimmy, and it's a rather accurate depiction of the cannon. I guess I just wanted to be heard, because when I see this kind of slashwar stuff it makes me feel frustraited, because I know that no matter how peacefully either side went about it, there'd be hate.

Thank you very much for pointing that out, and I'm not being sarcastic. When I was in the process of drawing this, I really didn't take the time to think about the way gay people might feel about it. Truth, really, I was kind of bored and I'd been planning a picture like this for a club I'm in. I'm not completely against gays and their rights -personally, some of my best friends are gay, and I just accept that- it's just that sometimes I see some picture that kinda sets me off. Like, something that no effort was put into and drawn for no real purpose. Or dirty stuff. That kinda crappy artwork drawn by people with no lives (and no, I'm not talking about anyone on DA.. its some art on FAC that upsets me) kinda offends me.
Really, I'm sorry if this picture upset you, and I'm not speaking for EVERYBODY when I say "don't try to change it". I know people will pair up same sex characters together.. with any character(s) they happen to like. It's invariable. But when I drew this picture, I was mainly thinking about the people against gay fanart, and I'm sorry I didn't consider other people's feelings.
And I'm not so much anti-homosexual as I am anti-cartoon-slash. I'm not really sure why, it's just the way I am. But I totally support gay people and their rights and opinions, and I'm really sorry I didn't write my message in a different way. It was just the first thing that came to mind, so I used it.
In conclusion... I'm really sorry. Next time, if there is a next time, I'll try not to make the picture so ... um whatever word you wanna call it. Hateful? I dunno. My brain's asleep.
