Description
"Third Torpedo Squadron, setting sail!"From the popular webgame, Kantai Collection (or KanColle) comes Kotobukiya's 1/8 scale of the special type destroyer of the 11th Destroyer Division, Fubuki, or 'Bucky', from the anime of the same title. Fubuki's pose is based from her card in the game.
The diorama I made for her is the heavily improvised version of the old elevator platform I made way back for Sendai. Main material are foam boards (about 6 of them) I bought from the dollar store.
I based the design of the diorama from the hangars for Gundams, (but I tried not to make it look overtly 'mecha-ish'), and also the ship hangar & launch pad itself from the anime. The hangar also has lights in it to make it look functional and realistic in a sense. I also added Sendai and Yuudachi in the setup. The Third Torpedo Squadron is almost complete!

I really like the diorama backdrop! I planned on making something similar someday for my bf's gundam models as a present so thanks for the inspiration and the description on how to pull it off!

Glad to hear that! What's interesting is that this diorama has a lot of basis from Gundam hangar dioramas. Just look it up on google and you'll find a lot of them, including the ones with lights. Let me know if you got some questions on the construction.
