Thank you! I'm hoping to draw loads more animals soon. My aim is to raise awareness with it, about how we're having such a devastating impact on their habitats and all that. You know me lol. Any you'd like to see me do, in particular? I'm compiling a big list, and both as my friend and as a fellow animal lover I'd really appreciate your input.
They're certainly a new challenge!

That sounds like a brilliant project ! What animals have you got already on your list? Maybe some of the less cute animals that get less love or compassion would be good to see? The Ugly Animals by Simon Watt is a good book that highlights some of these animals!
Maybe Bull terriers/Pitballs as they have such a bad, completely unfair reputation. Tasmanian Devils and bats both suffer from widespread illness and not a lot of awareness from the public, as far as I know.
Do you have any favourites you are looking forward to working on?
Badgers would be good too!

Thanks! Quite a few, really. They're mostly farm animals and endangered species - as well as a few personal favourites. I did have crocodiles and that sort of thing on the list, but I'll definitely look for more "ugly" creatures. I had no idea there was such a book. I'll check it out - thank you for the recommendation!
Tell me about it. I retweet death row cats and dogs every night, as you know, and all those poor pitbulls and staffies just break my heart. I absolutely hate breed discrimination. I think bats would be quite a challenge, but they are one of my favourite animals so I'll be giving them a go. Hadn't thought of the Tasmanian Devil - thanks for the suggestions, Troy!
I shall add them to my list.
Badgers are right at the top of my list, haha! Well, I've just started drawing and elephant with her calf and that's something I've been meaning to draw for quite a few years. Others like Moon Bears and such are animals that I love, but I've been quite daunted by drawing their fur. Having said that, I've almost finished drawing a tiger and that's turned out better than expected, so I'm hopeful!

I forgot to mention in my last message that Animals Asia would be good in particular for bear photos, theyre a great charity! They might be helpful in giving you some reference photos.
Also I was talking to another friend about zoos as well and she sent me a couple of links that might be helpful too - www.zoocheck.com/resources-3/r…
www.veganpeace.com/animal_crue…
I doubt I'd have any good enough or the right species but youre free to use any of my photos as references if they are any use, I think I have a few of the sun/moon bears on here. (I'm not 100% sure which they are as I've seen both names, they might be the same animal too)
It really sounds like such a great project! And I love that youre drawing farm animals, theyre so abused and forgotten.
I was going to ask, are you on instagram? I have 2 accounts :') Mercurialfox and Mercurialfoxart
I see those! I dont use twitter often but I always notice the deathrow adoption posts, its really heartbreaking. Breed discrimination is awful and it just shows how people dont understand dogs, let alone other animals, so many 'dog people' seem to not understand dog behaviours or communication and it causes so many problems. I could go on :'D !
I really look forward to seeing which ever animals you draw ! How is the elephant drawing going? Fur is so daunting ! I'm sure you will conquer it though, your art is always so amazing !
I will keep a look out on my notifications here, Im so behind still, I feel like Ive been trying to catch up all year!
Good luck with the project !

Ah, thanks! I love Animals Asia – they’re the charity I’m most passionate about supporting. I was going to use their images for reference a few years ago, as I hoped I’d be able to draw some of their rescued bears and maybe give them the originals to sell at their annual auction, but I didn’t feel I was good enough at drawing fur back then, so maybe it’s an idea for 2019? Thank you for the links as well, by the way.
Thank youuuu I’m so, so grateful! When I was looking at them I did think many of them would be perfect to draw from, so it’s lovely that you’ve offered. Made my day!
Thanks, Troy. Yeah, they are. I really feel so protective over farm animals. I’ve got one picture of a little piglet that I really can’t wait to draw. Did you see they’re doing a vegan week on The Great British Bake Off now by the way? Even if it’s not your thing, I still think it’s such a significant step forward and I think it will open a lot of peoples’ eyes to how easy vegan baking can be.
Yeah, I must post between two-hundred to two-hundred-and-fifty a night. Cats, too. It’s devastating – it literally rips my heart out sitting there for two hours when I see they’ve been killed the next day, but I can’t not do it because when you do see that they have been rescued, it makes it all worth it. Exactly. I’d say at least eighty percent were Pitbull mixes. It infuriates me that people think they’re aggressive monsters. There’s this thing now where they’re getting adopted, then raped, murdered and dumped on the roadside, just because they’re Pitbulls. It’s sick! After a lifetime of abuse and neglect these dogs finally thought they were going to be loved, only for people to do that to them. I cried so much over it.
Thank you so much. Your sculptures always leave me speechless, so it’s nice to have that mutual respect. How are your projects going? What are you up to at the moment? I’ve finished the elephant now, as you’ve seen. Still got a little bit to go on tiger, but I’ve been busy with these exhibitions, so I’m taking a little break for a few days and drawing Harvey Keitel. I hope to send it to him when I'm finished.
Thank you!!

LOL thank you but I do think your work has now definitely overtaken mine in terms of skill, though. It's amazing -- and I can't believe how quickly you complete your pieces. I'm in awe of that!

LOL I'm a work horse you know! XD I'm mostly just impatient and can't stop until I finish a piece I don't think my work has overtaken yours at all, I still spot a lot of nuances that you capture in your work that I have yet to master.

I'm the opposite: I often start with a lot of enthusiasm but then leave it for so long that I end up either dreading going back to it or just getting impatient and wanting finish it so I can start something else.
Nah, you're much too modest, Jenna. I really think it has in various ways. You've got many techniques I seem to lack.

I can grow listless with a piece if it has too much detail and feels like I'm never going to reach the end of it! I do my best to remember not to rush, but it can be hard when you want that instant gratification of seeing the piece finished
I think we trade off with modesty LOL But there's always room for improvement, and we are able to detect our deficiencies through the glory of others' works when we see there is something to venerate. I'm always seeing improvement in your works as well, and it's such a joy to see when you upload a new set of works.

Haha, very true. Thank you, Jenna.
