Every now and then I’ll go back and rework an old piece to prove to myself that I’m still improving (and that 100ish grand on school was worth it). So here it is again good ol’Sun.Related content

Anyway, I do love ref sheets and people putting on their own spin/version of what a character would look like in a time-skip (whether said time-skip is canon or not).
Having an older and a bit more serious Sun is interesting. For most of RWBY, before Volume 4, we see him as the goofy character who puts in the lightness that is needed especially when there are moments that are dreary. However, he is one of the most honest characters, who says what he wants to say, whether for a joke or a severe situation like the talk with Blake in Volume 4.
So, seeing a version of him like this, especially since you added the checkpoint of "he has seen sh**", brings more of realism to what the world of RWBY really has. Yes, we have hunters and huntresses that are practically superheroes and Remnant is totally fine and in an era of peace. However, you basically put in the truth that RWBY started in Volume 3.
Sun grown up and a bit wiser.
The colors you have chosen melds quite well. As much as I love Sun's originally color palette, this palette you matched up with his gunchuks works very well. It is a good contrast to Sun's hair and tail (since they are both . . . yellow).
I do like you added more of the allusion of the Monkey King to Sun. I did not get the Monkey King vibe from Sun when he was first introduced and when I read his profile on the wiki. Adding in the cloud patch, the fur parts, and oriental patterns (plus Sun's Emblem) helps a lot.

This design is sick. Im loving the new jacket, and the nimbus cloud is so fitting to the character. Can this fire tail be used for offense now as well?
