Description
I'm working on coloring this lineart using the Photoshop CS at school... so I am really just learning how to do this. This is my first stage completed getting all the base layers of color down that I want. Next, I am going to work on putting in the shading and coloring the eyes and whatnot.**Please give me feedback. I am new to the whole coloring on the computer and really want to learn more!

I think its a very good way to beginn! (first sett the color than the whole shading....)
Do you use many layers?
oh I see you become help! I do my shading in a little different way...
I hope I donΒ΄t wirre you, if I explain you my way... If you want to know, only ask!

^^ ok!
I usually use one layer for the lines.
One backgroundlayer (in only one color)
and than: maaaaaaany other layers...
maybe one for the hairs, one for the skin, one or two or three for the eyes, for the cloth some layers....
You can say: for every differrent collor or colloring technique I use a differrent layer sounds much..... ^^
On each layer I define the colors....
After color defining I begin the shading on the same layers...
In PS 7 (and higher... maybe PS 6 and <_< I donΒ΄t know anymore... in PS 5, too (but IΒ΄m not shure) you have a nice button on the layer window: fix transparent pixels (a little white gray quadrangle)
^^ its often very useful! You only can draw in this way not out of the (before) definied layer... <_< sorry.... hard sentence...
For the shade I usually use the pencil or the burning tool. ^^
For some extra effects I use often hue and saturation and Brightness/Contrast ^^ ...
after all I put all layers together (important!) and do something with the wohle figure... maybe Color Balance or more contrast again or less saturation or more... ^^ what ever!
^^ I think I try to make a tutorial! ^^ I hope you will like it! <_< I hope I will manage.....
any questions? ^^ only ask!!!! I hope I could help you!
Have a nice DAY!!! ^^

Your outline is pretty light. you can adjust it using the Levels (Ctrl+L (I *think* it's under Image>adjustments>level))...anyways, you can use this to darken your outine without ruining the quality of the layer (as it does in brightness/contrast).
When it comes to coloring/shading/whatever you like the call it. I prefer to have the 'base' layer for the color, then have a layer(s) above that which have the actual shaded/highlighted parts. When I color on those layers (I'll call them 'shade/light') I have the area which I will be coloring in selected (Ctrl+mouse click on the base layer). I do this so I keeps the rest of my picture clean while I work on a portion of the picture. I don't know if you know this already or not, so I might just be wasting your time.
ehhh~ I really don't know how you will color this picture. Cellshading is pretty straight forward (just clear areas where it's dark/light), so I'll give you some info. for 'realistic coloring'.
If you're going to color this 'realistically' you should you a medium sized airbrush on a low opacity (10% is good). when it comes to putting in the darker/lighter marks use a smaller brush, but keep it on the same opacity.
...you probably might have known this already, but if not, I hope it's useful.
...I think that's it.
I hope to see a finished version

No... this is all very useful! Thank you! (...and I hope that I get to finish it too... but it'll be a while, since I really only get to work on it like once a week )
