Try to make the animation not so jumpy by drawing the moving character's poses/frames closer, and adding more of them. This will make it less jumpy, and more seamless.
I like the expressions and the way the characters move, it's very natural and doesn't need much improving. It's just the animation itself.

There are also helpful tutorials all over the place for this stuff, especially for Flash. (For other programs I'm not sure, but I would think you'd be able to modify techniques for whatever software you're using.

Ah. Yeah, most Flash tutorials should be applicable then, for the most part. They're very helpful.
Yeah, we're pretty lucky. Though we're a small school we have excellent computers. The laptops have the CS3 Suite, as well as the Microsoft 2007 Suite. The desktops in the Business/Technology room are even better; they have the CS6 Suite that they got just this year. (Last year we used CS3, which was cool but not as cool as the CS6.) I hope that you'll be able to receive an opportunity like that, it's amazing.
