Description
I'm not sure what type of insect this guy is, but he sat and thought for a good half hour while I took as many shots of him as I could. I'm especially pleased with how this one came out.Related content

Love this! Great focus on the insect, and I think I've seen something like that before, it landed in my friend's hair.

This is a wonderful macro! And me being "the bug lady", my best guess would be that this is a species of tiger beetle. Hard to tell from the angle here, but I'd say a tiger beetle or close relative. Great job!

appears to be some sort of grasshopper or even a locust probably, I am no expert of course but thats how it APPEARS. Good shot none the less!

I'm pretty sure it's not one of the normal kind of grasshopper or locust, but it might be some weird sub-species. It's hard to tell from this angle but it doesn't have the big wings like the grasshoppers I normally see. (I'm can't actually remember if it had wings at all, I was mostly looking at it from the front and it was a while back... bad, failing memory!) It was also about half the size or smaller of any full-grown grasshopper, the blade of grass that it's on is normal grass like you walk on, not an ornamental variety.
But a good guess none the less and thanks for the comment, I'll look into weird varieties of grasshoppers more. If you know of any good sites about such things, I'd be thrilled to see them.
